When my wife and I first moved in 2.5 years ago we absolutely fell in love with the place. The management team at the time, mainly Stephanie, had been here for a while and was always super helpful and friendly.
We were so excited to always have friends and family over. We used to love to show off our super cool historic apartment building we lived in. The neighbors were so friendly and thoughtful. We absolutely loved our apartment!
Fast forward to today... a new management team has taken over. Most of the old residents have moved out, and a new wave of residents have moved in. I think there is only 2 remaining residents on our floor that were here when we moved in.
For some reason, the combination of a new management team and building full of residents who rotate every 6-12 months has turned this place into a terrible place to live. What was once a clean, friendly, and gorgeous place to live has turned into what I like to refer to as a dog pound combined with a homeless shelter combined with a project.
Every morning at 6:30am sharp we are woken up by the neighbors dark who cries and barks for hours. Sometimes it's easier for us to go ahead and get up and start our day, instead of stay home and listen to the dog. Unfortunately, this means spending our days off doing anything but staying at home. Note: the walls are so thin here, you can actually here your neighbor sneeze. Many times we can here the full normal-level conversation our neighbors are having.
Once we get up, and get ready in our bathroom that has stained ceilings from the water leak that has never been fixed, we get to play the game of "where is the dog piss" by the elevators. You see, the new residents let their dogs urinate right in front of the elevator, and never clean it up. Sometimes it's tricky to find the puddle of piss, so you start your morning off by stepping in it. We've asked for management to correct this, they threw up a couple cameras, but haven't actually done anything.
When we do actually stay in our apartment, we get to smell smoke. And not just marijuana, which at points is so strong in our own apartment that visitors we have over think we smoked, but also now the smell of cigarette smoke. The hallways are always a good combo of these two, and the hallway carpet is also piss stained.
So when you have visitors over prepare to make sure they don't step in the puddle of dog piss, and then apologize that someone left the trash room door open, and that the pile of garbage that's spilling out of the room isn't normally like that, even though it is. Then walk your visitors down the piss stained carpet, through the smells of weed and cigarettes, to your apartment that has so thin walls that you can here one neighbor having sex and the other one letting the dog cry/bark for hours.
The smells of trash, dog piss, cigarettes and weed, and the fact management doesn't seem to care, has unfortunately pushed us to find a new place to call home. We have loved living here, and we are definitely going to miss it. I wish the old management team was back, and that our neighbors weren't so terrible to live next to.
At this point it's like living in a dog pound that doubles as a homeless shelter that is managed by a Motel 8. Again, hate saying goodbye to the place, but I can't wait to not be embarrassed when I bring friends and family over. read more
