I took advantage of a promo to test out a free week at the Reserve. I wasn't sure because the…read morewebsite looked very corporate and stiff, but once I came into the space it felt very warm and cozy. The colors in the space are light with some nice wood and stone accents. They do a really good job with the architecture to minimize how sound travels. It's not distracting to have someone 10 feet away on a phone call. There is standing spaces (which I absolutely need) and sit down cubicles. The challenge with the standing spaces is that they are all in the middle of the room, so you can feel very exposed. In contrast, they have some sitting spaces that are more semi-private by the wall. They make a good effort to have social events and create more of a community with their members. The Reserve delivers the basics of what you need in a co-working space and more. I would highly recommend you check out the space and see it in-person. I also get co-working space at the Impact Hub in Minneapolis through an organization I work with. I have to say -- my preference is for the Impact Hub which has a more dynamic environment filled with folks working for the social good. Impact Hub also has an amazing rate for students. However, the Impact Hub is also a 30 minute drive (60 if it's rush hour) and has parking fees. I've noticed that co-working out of the Reserve has significantly lowered my stress level (it's only a few miles from my house -- compared to 25 miles to Minneapolis). The membership rates are structured slightly differently than other coworking spaces, but it's reasonably priced with other places around town. Worth the membership fee? In my opinion, YES. It's made me a believer. As much as people glorify home offices or try to make do with coffee shops/libraries -- for me, the cost of co-working places are worth the gains in productivity.

They have a stunning bar, and some comfy seating and games in the main area. The office rooms area was blocked off so didn't see what those are like. I took the (very slow) elevator up to the event space floor, so I didn't get to see any of the other club areas. The decor at the front of the event space is quirky and fun, with large prints of animals. The double-sided bar is directly in front, and is also impressive. Behind the bar is a lounge area with couches, high top tables and a shuffle board table. Farther into the room the space opens up, and there are large windows facing Washington Ave. The event space was quite large, and I can see how having a big empty space would be useful for a dance floor or more tables, but it felt quite bare and empty when I was there, especially because the front section (by the bar) felt so cozy. Overall, I think the event space was nice and had a lot of flexibility.

It definitely seems to be very community focused which I loved and the workers seemed to know most people by name too! The art and decor inside was beautiful and loved how they have snacks and drinks to keep people fueled as they work. They had chairs lined up podium style, but I grabbed a side table on the long bench siding. Perfect! They offered a light snack of popcorn & bubble water. Nice touch. But my favorite by far is the inspirational art in the bathroom. If fired me up! Plus it's a beautiful old building! They have space above Minneapolis' Kado no Mise. Fancy! The Coven is a warm, inviting community & work space for women, non-binary, and trans people. You check in on the first floor greeted by friendly, helpful faces. They are open weekdays 8-8 and have a St Paul space in the works! They have so many interesting topics for speakers just sign up online for one of their many happenings. You can join and be a member. They have conference room and floor rentals for your own event needs! I guess you can do photoshoots there too. Just message them via their website for all of the details.
