My dinner of locally sourced organic ingredients

I spent a delightful weekend at this gem of a retreat set amongst redwood trees. I'm blown away by the attention to details of every staff member here. Nicole was outstanding at the cafe. Lewis was equally professional in his tapping class. Luigi made our stay there a top-notch experience. The entire dining staff/kitchen team exuded joy in their work and so helpful and patient to explain what goes into our meals. Even the rain dis not dampen my weekend. I was refreshed and recharged and was thoroughly impressed with 1440 Multiversity and the embodiment of its mission of wellness as demonstrated by each of the staff. This place is a true gem!

I've attended 2 different programs at this site. Booking is a cinch & questions are answered quickly by real people. This allows for the relationship between 1440 Multiversity & student to start on a positive note. Fees are transparent - nothing's hidden. There's plenty of parking & a safe area to unload luggage prior to parking. Safety & security is top priority for guests - online and in person. COVID precautions are strict, so this added level of safety allows for peace of mind. If you're mobility-challenged, let staff know & they'll make sure your accommodations appropriate. Be aware that the campus is very large & some non-classroom areas are more challenging to reach - like steeper hiking trails in the woods. The important stuff (room, dining hall, coffee cart, and pool) are all accessible. Food!! The chef & his team ensure that all dietary needs/restrictions are met. The typical menu is diverse, fragrant, delicious, and eye-appealing. Classrooms are large with a variety of different venues from a sanctuary space to a traditional room to an outdoor amphitheater. There's a gift shop, too. Additional classes are offered at no additional charge & might include Tai Chi or yoga. The rooms are clean with plenty of hot water & tons of space for your personal belongings. Pack comfortable walking clothes & shoes that match your program's agenda. Bring a swimsuit & plan to dress in layers as the weather is different from the city. Only negative: window blinds are see-through at night, so wear clothes in the room. Last, but important to note... Your classmates & instructor are great -- people just like you who are interested in personal & professional development. Staff is exceptional -- very nice, knowledgeable, & super helpful.

Started my round of N Cal retreats and was here for a weekend. I ordered the redwood guided tour package and paid extra. Here are some pros and cons Pros - food. Food was great, mostly. But the food on a Saturday breakfast was a bit too heavy for me. Had some bad reaction after. Though tasty. Tea was great. - programs are great. I would recommend going with the basic program. You would have enough throughout the day - gym here looks good. Saw people using it quite a bit. - service was overall great - campus is quite beautiful with a lot of redwoods to hike for. Cons - the rooms are like dorm rooms. It was a little awkward, though updated quite a bit - I paid extra for a hiking tour. There was some miscommunication and I didn't get to the guided extra tour (supposed to be off campus). I got the complimentary tour done on campus... same complimentary tour done on Sunday again.... So essentially I paid something that came in free with basic package. The front desk knows after I talked to her. But no resolution after - the retreat feels a bit lost. I think it is having a hard time to figure out the directions of where it is supposed to be. So though it is offering some good options, but from a customer perspective, I don't quite know what this exactly all about. Eg if you target people for weekend getaway, maybe some workshops should be offered during weekend instead of weekdays? I came here when it was pretty hot, they offered refreshing fruit infused water at front desk on Friday when we checked in. But nothing was offered over the weekend. When asked, I was told that it was only a check in day offer. A bit weird. For a nonprofit, they are well staffed. Though I am not quite sure if it is necessary.

Felt like summer camp when I was here! Came for a work retreat, had awesome food, and great activities. The campus is beautiful, and the service was amazing. Did I mention that the food was good already??

I finally made it to 1440 Multiversity. I attended a weekend program facilitated by an author and speaker. My program was out of this world enriching, supporting and engaging! The staff members I engaged with delivered on customer service. In fact, the best customer service I've experienced on the West Coast since moving from Metro NY. I was happy to see diversity in the staff and what appeared to be good communication and teamwork (it was a pleasure to witness). The food was professionally prepared with a decent number of options (vegan - meat-eaters). Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy the meal and meet others. The accommodations were alright (I was in the pods) which were uncomfortable for me. However, it's community style living which was fun. (Grown up summer camp) and plenty of bathrooms and showers. I didn't have to stand in a single line. Also worth mentioned, there were additional activities which were optional to attend. I went on a (guided) full moon walk through the forest - it was great to move the body after sitting in my program. The local guide was knowledgeable, shared light history and poetry. As an attendee I was saddened to see a lack of diversity with the participants and am curious as to the reason why. I will look for other programs to attend and recommend this to anyone interested in attending a program here.

I've been here for 2 hrs waiting to get into a room. Not a retreat--not relaxing at all. I've stayed at motels in the middle of nowhere that operate better than this place. 1) Check-in line was one of the worse-- 4-5 folks working the front desk, 10 folks in a queue for 20 minutes with no movement. 2) The best part was that when my sister and I arrived at our private room ~$500/night/pp the room wasn't even cleaned or ready. The bellhops dropped off our bags before we checked in...and didn't bother to notify the front desk regarding the state of the room. 3) I had a package delivered to the front desk hours before I arrived and they can't locate it. 4) I've been waiting to get into my new room for the past 30 minutes... I travel for work as often as 5x/month and have never seen such a poorly run establishment. Stay away!

Attended a weekend program as a commuter. I got there early and went for a short hike around lower campus to check out the outdoor cathedral of redwoods. I couldn't find the famous 1200 year old tree. Maybe next time. The program kicked off with a beautiful dinner at Kitchen Table. It's buffet style with a salad, choice of a unique entree or a simple veggies & protein (or both, if you're me), a soup, and a dessert. Friday night's unique entree was called a global cuisine (photo included). The purée and sauce was delicate and full of flavor. It bounced around in my mouth and didn't leave any greasy aftertaste. It was pure delight. The jalapeño cauliflower soup was deep and filling. I strongly recommend trying the various spices. My favorite is "everything but the bagel" and the turmeric. I could go on and on about Kitchen Table because the food was so wonderful and he service was so easy. Common goods and the healing center both carry a curated selection of merchandise my every lifestyle need and joy. I love it. I got a shower mist and took down the name of a few businesses to check out later online. My workshop was exactly as advertised and then some. I was worried because there was nearly 100 people, but the space accommodated everyone comfortably and the speaker system never felt obtrusive. The acoustics flow very gently in the sanctuary.

The entire concept of 1440 Multiversity in Scotts Valley captures me. The workshops, the environment, the focus on sustainability, the art, the food--I could go on and on. The campus is beautiful and a perfect setting for the learning you may be seeking in any number of classes. Check online for their current sessions--the caliber of offerings will fit the needs of many different seekers I believe. So good for the soul. I still remember the first drum circle I participated in not long after checking in. It was a great experience to connect with others and my own feelings as well through global rhythm and joyful movement. You can find tranquility between your sessions in multiple places. I loved the labyrinth and the art piece called Metamorphosis. After a spa session or a swim in the infinity pool, you will also feel the peace in the specially lighted woods walking back to your own space in the evenings. We stayed in a lovely room with two queen beds with no TV (on purpose) and there are other spaces to stay at various price points including individual sleeping pods. The 116-foot outdoor mural near check in really captures a lot of what I feel when I'm at 1440 Multiversity. It depicts inclusion. No matter your beliefs, every minute when I've been there, I feel included, happy, and challenged to learn new things about myself and the world where we live. I look forward to spending another 1440 minutes there every chance I might have.

Simply incredible. I had the good fortune to accompany my wife this past weekend to a Healing Our Healthcare Heroes Retreat. We really didn't know what to expect based on the limited advance information we received from her employer and looking at 1440's website (which does not do it justice!). As it turned out, I went from just hoping the weekend would be bearable for me to not wanting to leave at the end! First off, it was as if we were heading to Yosemite thinking we'd be staying in the Yosemite Lodge and eating in the cafeteria, but discovering upon arrival that we were actually staying at the Ahwahnee and eating all our meals in the Dining Room. On second thought, that's not a good comparison... 1440 is even better than the Ahwahnee. The buildings (and entire campus for that matter) are beautiful with an amazing attention to detail and craftsmanship. Our room in the Sayanta building was spacious, comfortable and luxurious with a balcony overlooking the redwoods. We expected the food to be simple, bland, mass-produced cafeteria fare. Nothing could be farther from the truth. One chef personally serves your gourmet meal from the first station to the last telling you in fascinating detail about each dish and its ingredients, most of which are found or grown on the campus itself! The chefs display such genuine pride and enthusiasm for the dishes that even I, a picky eater, found myself trying a number of dishes I never would otherwise because the chefs made them sound so delicious. Most dishes however required no such convincing. If you're planning a stay at 1440, be sure to get there in time for the first available meal and stay for the last! While I chose not to attend my wife's workshops (which were universally praised by her and her coworkers), I was never bored in the slightest. Besides some time relaxing in our wonderful room, I attended a nutrition class, a relaxing "sound journey", and hiked every trail on campus, among other things. In the evening, we enjoyed hanging out with others by the fire pits listening to the excellent live music. Last but certainly not least, I must praise the employees and their unparalleled service. Words cannot accurately describe the jobs they performed. Every single last employee displayed the epitome of deep hospitality. I have never felt more welcome anywhere. Lots of hotels, resorts, and other destinations talk the talk, but 1440 walks the walk. I always thought of Disneyland as having the friendliest, most helpful, most welcoming employees. 1440's staff makes Disneyland's look pedestrian. And it wasn't an act. Every interaction, every offer of assistance, every compliment, every thanks for the healthcare workers was undeniably sincere. The positivity was palpable and permeated every moment. 1440 is not some pretentious New Age-y commune (which is kind of what I feared going in). 1440 is what you get when people who absolutely love what they do give their all and spare no effort or expense to give others a peaceful, rejuvenating, and rewarding experience. If you have the opportunity to visit 1440 Multiversity, don't even hesitate. We certainly hope to return. 1440 is the real deal. 5 stars is a woefully inadequate rating.

The number 1440 represents the number of minutes in a day. The all inclusive retreat/resort is the perfect getaway from the stress of work and city life. We were greeted with some of the most friendly people on arrival and ushered into what we would end up calling "paradise". From checking in to cleaning, the staff did everything downright to perfection. Kitchen Table: When you enter this massive rustic yet industrial cafeteria, you're instantly hit with the aromatic smell of food and the grandeur of the structure. From herbs like mints and basils to juicy plums, ingredients are sourced locally and from their own campus garden. The concept is interesting, cafeteria style buffet reminiscent of early school days but with beautifully crafted dishes. Unlike the usual buffet line where patrons get to pick items off the lineups, dishes are put together on request right before your eyes. Be it crispy chicken with butternut squash with peach conserva or duck gratin with root vegetable gratin, all dishes are delicately arranged and customized to your needs. While the number of dishes may be somewhat limited (four or five options), they more than make up with the quality presented. The most amazing dining experience I've had in a long time. I'd wake up everyday thinking nothing but the amazing food that I'd be enjoying. Infinity tub: a 30" by 6" hot tub with panoramic view of redwoods. One of the main attractions of the campus and surprisingly, unused by most visitors. Had the tub all to myself for a number of times during my stay, FOR HOURS! As part of the package, supplemental activities like qigong, yoga, and meditation are available through out the stay. Which I did little of thanks to my cold.... Our time at 1440 was truly a unique experience of its own. We left recharged and ready to face the sourest lemons that life has in stock. Given the short distance from the Bay, we'll surely be returning in the near future!

Beautiful campus, great food, variety of offerings. First off, the campus is simply wonderful. It's nestled inside the beautiful forest of the Santa Cruz mountains, and the buildings themselves are designed to fit into that. The food is AMAZING, and feels very healthy, they have lots of options during their meal times to cater to different needs, and everything is super fresh. The meals are at specific times, but they generally don't conflict w/ the programs that are happening. They have a very large variety of programs that come here, so I would reccoemend finding on that speaks to you. As for the housing that others have been complaining about, yes I would recommend getting an Airbnb (the housing is quite expensive), and paying the commuter fee. That fee covers the meals and facilities (you get access to all of the yoga class and etc as well as the grounds). Overall, it's a beautiful sanctuary.

I had the most incredible experience at 1440! The moment you get to the property you notice a sense of calm come over you. The architecture, landscaping, Design in general is so well done. The quality of everything is beyond expectation. The staff- from the front desk, to the restaurant, on the grounds and everywhere in between all were very professional, helpful and lovely. I stayed alone in the tiny one bedroom. I loved the simplicity of the room. The furniture was only what I needed. No TV, phone. Just a beautiful light fixture, comfortable twin bed, and storage area for my suitcase. The room was spotless. It was so refreshing to stay somewhere so minimally perfect. There are other room options that are more elaborate than where I stayed, but the idea here is 'less is more'. I enjoyed the hiking trails and gim while I was there. I took a free meditation class that was lovely. The kitchen/Cafe/dining hall was the highlight. The food, which is included in the room rate, was spectacular. The vegan and gluten-free options were fabulous! They were also some meat items for the meat eaters. It all was incredibly well done, artful and healthy. I left inspired to go home and cook high quality simple food for my family. I am so glad to have found this property. I will be back once a month! I read a couple of reviews that talked about hidden expenses? I cannot imagine where that was coming from. This property is the most incredible value I have ever discovered. No surprises, just a restful and rejuvenating experience.

Loved the place but the on campus accommodations were a bit expensive. If you attend a retreat here I recommend staying off the campus and just commuting daily. It easily saved us around $500-600. Aside from that the stay here was perfect. It was one of the most memorable trips I've ever taken and the staff was so friendly. They hold various classes through out the day and once you pay for access you're welcome to attend any of them. The food was some of the best I've ever had. Each meal was prepared by professionals (see pics below). Kitchen Table, the on campus dining hall, is included with your pass and is in the center of where all the classes were held. I'd definitely come back here again, the hot tub overlooking the woods was amazing... especially after yoga.

I have enjoyed wonderful programs and stays at 1440 and I'd like to go more often. How much is the commuter option and is it available for all workshops?

Liferaft Tutoring is a gift to parents and students alike. What an incredibly valuable…read moreorganization for any academic level, age student or subject. We were referred to Liferaft from a friend when my son came to me asking for help in finding a resource to tutor him through statistics. We had tried different independent tutors before and other organizations to no avail. We couldn't find a tutor that my son connected with or felt he could learn from. I contacted Liferaft immediately and heard back from its founder, Michael, right away. He assessed the situation and what resources my son needed. I was also coming to him very late in the game, less than five weeks away from finals. Michael matched us with an exceptional tutor on his team, a working teacher with a masters in education, within hours and we scheduled our first session. It was a match. Not only did Jen immediately start creating study guides for my son, but she reached out to his teacher, stayed on top of his progress and grades and stayed in contact with my son's teacher to find out the plan for the remainder of the semester. Jen kept me updated along with Michael and she checked in regularly. This group has incredible communication skills and are instantly responsive and reassuring to student and parent alike. My son was being taught without a text book or a structure for an outside resource to really be able to leverage. So, Liferaft ordered materials and the AP stats book to teach from. I quite honestly have never seen this type of effort from a tutor or tutoring firm before. They worked with him at their Scotts Valley location and several hours offsite in preparation for the final and the final projects and study guides. My son was able to hold his good grade with Jen and Michael's help and he actually learned a great deal from them. And, they helped me avoid a heart attack. I truly wish we would have discovered Liferaft years ago. The new Scotts Valley location is ideal for this district so don't wait to get your child engaged with this valuable resource as soon as possible. They make such a difference.
