From Chicago, first time at 130 Degrees tonight. Here are my thoughts: -The service is excellent! Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and spoke English. A+ -We ordered a garden salad and beets for appetizers. My wife loved the salad and I loved the beets. -For my main entree, I ordered the rib eye, well done. It was cooked perfectly, with a touch of pink on the inner cuts. Best piece of meat I've had since I came to Mexico 5 months ago! -The steaks are big, meant to be shared. Great place to come with some hungry meat-loving guys and gals : ) -I also ordered a side of fries--they were delicious, but my wife ate most of them : ) She ordered the lentil soup and LOVED it. Here's a funny thing, 130 grados is a steak house and they are one of the best, my other favorite being Cienfuegos. I think they are owned by the same company. But the vibe here is different, its more a classic upscale steakhouse that will seat you if you arrive in sandals and shorts, The food is generally fantasitic, with surprise hits like the lentil soup and roasted beets being simply spectacular. It can run a bit pricey for Merida but it is also one of the better meals you will find with a truly attentive and courteous staff. read more

We came here for dinner. The food was amazing, but the service left much to be desired. Around 9:45 p.m., we were told we couldn't order a drink because the "machine shuts off," which was clearly an excuse to rush us out. We won't be coming back. Terrible service been here 2 times , 1st time was pretty good, second time was my 12 year anniversary. Had water leaking over our table, asked to be moved then they just came to clean up instead of moving us ,good thing it started pouring our water and they moved us after that, server only showed up once , asked for a water for our drinks , didn't receive water until I asked another waiter, service could have been better , food was okay . read more

This is the spot to eat at! Beautiful atmosphere, accommodating service, and the food was amazing. The cauliflower starter is a must, the bread is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, mac-n-cheese is delicious, and the grilled veggies were amazing. The service was incredible, Armando our waiter understood English and was very well spoken and explained the different cuts of meat, even brought us the collection of meats to our table. He gave great recommendations for appetizer and made sure we were satisfied. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the quality of the meat was as superb and for a fraction of the price you'd pay elsewhere. I spent the Christmas and New Year break with my partner and friends in Merida. On the 2nd of January, my friend's sister arrived, and we decided to treat her to a nice steak dinner at 130° Grados, Mérida. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a mis-steak dinner. Initially, we were excited about the extensive menu choices. Our waiter introduced himself but informed us that no salad options were available that evening, which was disappointing, especially for our pescatarian friend whose dinner options were limited. We opted for shared appetizers, including roasted cauliflower, beets, and mac and cheese. For the main course, four of us shared a large steak, while my pescatarian friend ordered salmon. We also ordered sides like mashed potatoes, French fries, and grilled asparagus. We began with cocktails to welcome our friend's sister. The appetizers arrived promptly, but to our disappointment, everything was cold or, at best, lukewarm. Despite this, we proceeded to eat as we were all hungry. While waiting for the main course, we faced difficulty getting the waiter's attention for drink refills due to the separated dining areas. When I finally managed to get the waiter's attention, I ordered a red Nimbus Cabernet Sauvignon. Unfortunately, it took three attempts to get my glass of wine, and when it arrived, it was served cold from being in the refrigerator. This was a first for me in a steak restaurant, and the cold temperature compromised the flavor and body of the wine. As we started to enjoy our sides and shared steak, our pescatarian friend's salmon was delayed. Despite inquiries, the waiter assured us it would be out shortly. After a considerable wait, during which the rest of us almost finished our meals, we called the manager to address the issue. However, the manager, who couldn't speak English, sent another waiter to translate. The manager never returned, and the waiter mentioned it would be another 5 minutes. Frustrated, we decided to cancel the salmon order as our friend had lost his appetite. Notably, we observed that another table, seated after us, also faced delays in receiving their food. This made us question whether it was a combination of order misplacement and insufficient priority in the kitchen. The overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the restaurant's appealing exterior. The manager never apologized or made any effort to compensate for the inconvenience. This lack of customer service, combined with the overall issues, makes it unlikely that we'll return to 130° Grados, Mérida. Our friend aptly summed it up as a steakhouse trying to be something it's not. For a better dining experience, we recommend going across the street to Olivia. read more

Was visiting Merida, Mexico and went to this restaurant on our last night. It is right in the middle of the downtown area. Taking Ubers in this city is super cheap. Only paid about $3 USD. I was afraid we were going to have to wait awhile for a table since we didn't have a reservation but to my surprise we were seated right away. Service was great. We had 4 people in our party. Typically for a place like this for 4 people your paying over $200. Only paid less than $150 for everything, even got dessert. All the food was amazing! And the ambiance of the place was super upscale I felt underdressed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Merida, Mexico! read more

LOVED our meal here. Started with what we thought were side salads - they were huge; the largest side salad I have ever been served. We had the mac and cheese - what my niece described as the best she has ever had. I think we had a baked potato; cannot recall exactly (that vacation was soooo 3 wks ago!) For the entree one person in our party ordered blue steak and it came out closer to our medium steaks; other than that, no complaints. The ambiance is great; the space is small so make reservations if you eat later - we ate early so we walked-in without reservations. The ambiance was excellent. Interesting that one patron indicated that the prices were a little high ... it's all relative. I spent 1/3 of what I spend in Chicago for a similar meal so I thought it was a bargain! read more

The food was excellent, the portions were enormous, and the service was attentive. The only downsides were the prices, which were on the heavy side, and the time it took to prepare our food. Nonetheless, the wait and the prices were worth it. Leather seating, wood paneling, dim lights, a lively pop soundtrack, and stone touches characterize the interior. read more

Good, but not good enough to justify the price. We live in NYC and Quality Meats is our go-to steakhouse. We love the Tomahawk there so naturally we ordered it here. It was good. Temperature was perfect, flavor was fine but not superb. We also ordered the ribeye, mac and cheese, truffle fries, baked potato and a salad with two glasses of wine (cheapest on menu) and a few club sodas. We didn't have room (or time) for dessert as they told us the ones we wanted would take 30 minutes to prepare, but they looked good. We wished they would have shared the prep time on desserts when they served our food. The bill was close to $500 USD. Everything was good but I could eat at a michelin star restaurant and have the meal of my life for that. Service was also good, so you wont be disappointed if you go...you will just have to pick up your jaw from the floor when the bill comes. read more

Went here for a birthday dinner last night. I will start by saying all the food that I ate was good. My issue is with the service and lack of hospitality and any attempt on the restaurants part to do right by the customer. First off they had lost our reservation and we were forced to pull up a confirmation email while standing outside of the restaurant. We ordered an expensive bottle of wine for the table after being told that we were not allowed to have a taste of a different wine that is served by the glass. Having worked in fine dining restaurants I can understand not necessarily giving tastes if bottles are not regularly opened and not opening a bottle just for a taste so I didn't think to much into it at the time and we ordered a bottle of something more expensive anyway. (Probably what they wanted us to do by denying the taste.) After having a few sips of wine I noticed that there was a live bug swimming in my glass (not the restaurants fault). I asked for a new glass from a server. He took away my 90% full glass of wine and brought a new empty glass. He poured the remainder of our bottle into my new glass and the restaurant made no attempt to resolve the situation by either offering a free glass of wine, taking a small percentage off the bill or at the very least apologizing for throwing away a quarter of my bottle of wine! I would have honestly drank the glass with a bug in it but at the very least would have liked it strained out first! We ended up ordering another bottle in part because we had lost a quarter of the last one. Again no apology or offer to remedy the situation. That is honestly terrible hospitality in my opinion. The short ribs were served table side and the server struggled with an empty lighter for minutes to set up the presentation while awkwardly standing in the way of the walking path of the restaurant. If you are going to serve anything table side you should make sure you are prepared before showing up to the table. The final straw for me and the reason I decided to write a review was that we asked to wrap all of our leftover food to go. That included half a Caesar salad, a side of spinach, and the remaining short ribs. Imagine my frustration when I opened the bag of food today and the only thing that they had wrapped up was the short ribs. Overall there are about a hundred other restaurants in Merida that are just as good and I won't be returning to spend my money in a place that cares so little about their guests experience. PS. I was excited to see they had beef Wellington on their menu but upon asking for clarification on the item I was informed it did not come with any sauce which I found very unusual for Wellington. They also describe it as being wrapped in pastry with wild mushrooms. For those that do not know a proper Wellington is wrapped in prosciutto and duxelles and served with a reduction sauce and usually accompanied with side dishes. They are charging high prices for dishes that fall short of the mark. What we ate. Scallops with bone marrow - fine but underwhelming. Served on a crostini that did nothing to complement or elevate the dish. Caesar salad - pretty good not much to say. I honestly don't think they bothered to wash the romaine though. Salmon tacos - tasty! Salmon was good. Fried leeks added perfect texture. Squeeze of lime added the right amount of acidity for a well rounded delicious bite. Short ribs - I'd give them a 6.5 out of 10. Had some flavor but needed a proper sauce to elevate the dish. Not very impressive Creamed spinach - This along with the tacos were the highlight for me. Creamy, cheesy, overall just delicious. Made all the more frustrating because I saved extra and was expecting to have leftovers but they were not wrapped up as I had asked. read more

We were so excited to eat here and left with the most disappointing feeling. We were a table of 5 and 1 of our guests didn't even receive his meal. They kept saying it was coming. Meanwhile all of us have finished our meals. We ended up canceling the last meal because it was so late. Also the apps were cold. Wine took forever to come to the table. It's not a very big restaurant so there shouldn't be any excuse for this. They really didn't seem to care. I do not recommend this restaurant. Very sad service. read more

my partner ate at 130 degrees saturday night firstly there was no white or rose already chilled, with it being so hot in merida would be nice to start with a nice cold glass of wine. We had the truffle fries and the mushrooms which were amazing, we followed with the poached egg on crispy ribeye the menu did not say it came in a skillet filled with hot oil and cooked at the table of which i tried but could eat much of it as it was soaked in oil, I think they may want to add on their menu about the skillet and all the oil. Then we had the scallops with marrow which the presentation was amazing but not sure the scallops were cooked. I was up all night vomiting and diarrhea and now closer to 48 hours and can't leave the house. I messaged the restaurant first thing the next day to inform them of my health condition just in case it happed to more people that evening, i did not here back for around 12 hours after i messaged them again to ask if they received my message. I was informed that the message was passed along to David Angeles Director of operations at 130 Degrees at around 8:30 pm we went back and fourth and my suggestion was that the menus state how certain dishes are cooked in etc, he did apologize and did offer a recommendation of a Doctor and would cover the expenses. We did love the restaurant but not worth loosing the two days of a great vacation in Merida. We did eat amazing food all over Merida from local Yucatán food to French and Italian the local cuisine was our favorite. read more

I am a little torn on how to rate this place. They are more a 4.5 stars for service and ambiance. This is the most expensive meal we have had in our three months in Merida so I expect things to be pretty close to perfect. We had a 7:30 reservation and they had our table ready when we arrived. By the end of the night all of the tables were full. My wife and I ordered drinks and not an appetizer. We both had drinks with tonic so they brought each a whole can of tonic along with two shots of gin for me and two shots of vodka for my wife. One I paid for and the other on the house. Nice start. They brought us bread along with herbed butter and a couple other spreads. We ordered the New York strip by the ounce. We got one of their smaller cuts of 22 ounces at 49 pesos an ounce. We also ordered the baked potato and creamed spinach. Nice presentation of when they bring the steak to the table. They cut our meat into strips and put baked garlic on the meat. The baked potato and creamed spinach was enough to split. Only issue was potato was not baked long enough and was hard in the middle. My wife's meat had a little tough fat that you don't expect with prime meat. Our waiter was great throughout the meal. He was very personable and provided great service. Quaint atmosphere, servers really nice and sweet but NOT knowledgeable, so do not expect an educated advice, they just repeat what they have been told ... Please be aware, this restaurant does not not allow for substitutions. I order a steak that came forcefully accompanied with mash potatoes weather I like or NOT. I don't like eat potatoes for health reasons, I ask for a simple substitute and was told NO substitutes. Without exception you will have to wait, if lucky 45 minutes to an hour for your steak. They cooked in a sort of crock and it takes FOREVER!!! Got my steak, over cooked, NO excuse, after 1 hour. NO way!! This place is a mess!!! Cannot recommend it. It is my third and last try. So sorry but they are gotten worse. Try Trotters, they are flexible with highly educated staff and they will substitute... Enjoy! read more

We stayed at an Airbnb next to this restaurant. They are horrible neighbors. Aside from the general noise of a restaurant and their employees leaving and slamming doors around midnight, last night they tripped the alarm when they left and chose to ignore it. Because of this their very loud alarm system has been going off every 15 minutes since midnight last night. This is a high-end steakhouse doing business in a residential neighborhood, yet they have zero consideration for the neighbors. Read many good reviews but they must have been from last year. First my wife ordered a Zinfindel from the menue, they didn't have it. Then she ordered a filet mignon, they were out of that. I ordered a ribeye and they said they had a 38 oz rib eye but not a single order 12-16 oz. so we ordered 3 beef wellingtons. I asked for med rare but the waiter said they cook them all the same. Mine was grey inside, no pink or red. For $150 US don't waste your time. There are many better restaurants in Merida. read more

The best filet minion I've ever eaten. The meat was seasoned throughout and cooked perfectly. The service was exquisite and the atmosphere was lovely. The grayscale tile in the washroom is not to be missed, it's beautiful. If you're in Merida you should visit 130 Steakhouse. read more

This is across the street from Oliva and a few doors from the house we rent. At a few minutes before 7pm there was a crowd waiting outside Oliva and we went we're the first into the Steakhouse; one other pair arrived before 8:15pm. The place is beautiful. The menu is slightly confusing (steak priced in oz.). Steak meals take 45 mins. We both ordered Boef Wellington, one with asparagus and one with creamed spinach. The food is basically competent but totally lacks the subtle flavoring expected of a high end restaurant. We left without bothering with coffee or desert. We will return to Oliva. read more
