Disappointing Experience at Morumbi Jiu Jitsu I had high…read morehopes for Morumbi Jiu Jitsu, especially for my child, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. One of the most concerning issues was the pairing of children for sparring and drills. It seems there was little consideration for the varying experience levels among the kids. As a result, my child felt overwhelmed and discouraged, which is the opposite of what we were looking for. Additionally, the focus on teaching techniques seemed to overshadow the importance of making learning enjoyable for the kids. Training should be a fun and engaging experience, especially for younger students, but the environment felt rigid and overly technical. I believe that fostering a love for the sport is just as important as mastering techniques, and this balance was unfortunately lacking. I hope the management takes these issues into account to improve the experience for future students.For now, I cannot recommend Morumbi Jiu Jitsu based on my child's recent experience.

The gym has members at all weights and experience levels but everybody is great at rolling with any belt level in a way that helps everybody improve. Environment is super chill and laid back but the rolls are tough. Although there is more no gi classes than gi, there are tons of open mat time for a more self guided approach. A lot of the guys here were wrestlers and play a takedown and top heavy game, which is perfect to work on your guard or get better at takedowns/ defense. My guard retention and leg lock game has leveled up exponentially since coming here. They will keep charging you even after you cancel. I was billed for months for my girlfriend's…read morerecovery membership that she never used and was supposed to be canceled. They also overcharged me for personal training sessions I couldn't attend, and sold us a boxing membership only to get rid of the boxing coach almost immediately. When I asked to cancel, they still kept billing. Every time I talked to management I was told it would be handled, notes would be added, and corporate would follow up. None of that ever happened. Operations manager Tony Avila told me multiple times he would take care of it, but that did not happen. Honestly not sure what "operations manager" means here because nothing was managed and none of the problems were fixed. To make it worse, I later found out the sales staff who signed me up are no longer there because of shady practices, which lines up exactly with what happened to me. Most of the regular staff are nice, but management did nothing to fix the problem. Be very careful what you sign here and watch your bank statements. 1 star added bc i like most of the staff are dope.
