Mid-State Flooring

We had a most unsatisfactory experience with Mid-State Flooring recently. We came in for carpet for…read morethree bedrooms. In addition to the carpet we had two stipulations, on which we were explicit. One was the install date (we gave over a week lead) and the other was we required "pet-proof" carpet pads. We keep large dogs as pets and often have grandchildren as houseguests. Both are generally messy and occasionally have accidents that can require strenuous measures to clean up. We specified the date because our son and d-i-l offered to come in from out of town to help move furniture out of the bedrooms and back in after installation. The morning of our install date we sat around waiting several hours for MidState to show up, then I called. Don was unaware of the delay and eventually found that their install person had, instead of coming to do the job, had left that morning for Alabama (his words). I explained how inconvenient and unacceptable this was and asked him to expedite a plan B. Nothing happened, even after I went back to the store to explain our needs in person. It took Don three days to find someone to make the install. I checked on the men doing the install and saw they were using very basic, inferior carpet pads and called Don to find out why our stipulation regarding the pads had been ignored. He claimed no knowledge of our order for the pet-proof pads. I reminded him of our requirements as voiced at the time of order, to no effective end. He claimed to review his notes on the order and saw no such specification. Odd, because it was a major feature of our order and seemed to have been included in the pricing of the job (which was competitive, btw). Frankly we felt cheated. From previous experience (with Joey's in Gallatin) I realized the pads are a potential target for bait and switch tactics, where the better pad is priced in the job but then inferior pads are installed and the carpet laid over before the consumer can check it. I can not recommend Mid-State Flooring for any work that you won't require specifications in writing and then keep both eyes on the entire process. Even then I do not recommend anyone who would take advantage of an incautious customer. Look elsewhere for your flooring needs and you may have a better experience.

Called to schedule an estimate and told the man exactly what we were looking for. On the day he was…read moresupposed to come he called to confirm, but had no recollection of our original discussion. It was as if we were speaking for the first time. He called again and had to reschedule the appointment for later that afternoon. No problem. I got a third phone call saying that no one would be able to come out that day and wanted to reschedule again for another day. I returned the call and left a message. Got no response at all. The customer service and lack of communication easily convinced us to go with another company. There are enough people in Nashville doing flooring that I have planet to choose from.

100% recommend this place for flooring…read more We stopped in here after nothing more than a local Google search, and we're glad we did! We were having a sunroom built and had looked at your typical Lowe's/Home Depot selection. Not that we didn't like what they had to offer, but their prices can be nearly double what you'll pay here! We wanted some vinyl planks that look like wood but are much more durable, scratch resistant, and obviously cheaper! R&T's selection can't be beat. They have colors, designs, and options of all types and for most any needs. They don't offer installation directly through them - he just sells the flooring itself, but the owner (who is super friendly and wants you to enjoy your product) has plenty of recommendations for locally-owned businesses who can do your installation for you, if needed. The only thing about the place is it's a little hard to find. It's in a warehouse next to a Crossfit gym behind Mt Juliet's train station. Pop the address in Google and it'll get you to the warehouse. You have to pull in on the left side and you should see some parking spaces labeled 'R&T only'. Can't say enough good things, and if you need some flooring, want to save some money and still get a good/quality product, and want to support local business - please shop here!

Johnny the owner talked to us about the various products, gave us samples of the types we were interested in to take home and compare to our other flooring. Once we made our selection worked with us to find an installer that could get us done quickly. The installer was Scott from Superior flooring, he was very professional and communication was great as it was with R&T. Samples to install took just 4 days and it's everything we could have hoped for. These folks are very professional from start to finish.
