I went there on February 18, 2022, at 8:41 a.m. I used my debit card as usual to get a cash discount. But this time they had taped cash-only labels on each of the pump stations. Thinking like always debit cards are cash because the money comes directly out of your bank account. Not the case, Neighbor Mart charge credit\debit cards the same amount per gallon. I explained to the cashier and the manager that is misleading because debit cards are the same as cash. The manager explained that he still gets a bank charge on debit transactions so he only honors "green dollars" as cash. Another customer approached, and he allowed the other person to enter the humidor. He kept looking at me as I walked towards the back as if to stop me. I asked if there was a problem or if he was closing the area. He looked at a picture of a woman on the door and then back at me. It was then I understood. I explained that she was not me, but he still seemed concerned. I showed him my ID, but he still appeared uneasy. I was mortified that I was being accused of being a shoplifter. I looked nothing like the picture, except that we both are black, and my skin is much darker. I am also a registered patron. During all the months going in there, this has never been a problem. I have decided never to go back there. All my friends and family, including veterans, deserve better humiliation with no apology.
