So pleased about this lovely new addition to Pooler! Located in the same building as the former Stir coffee shop, Joyful Java has definitely raised the bar for coffee in town. They offer a solid variety of beverages--all the classic barista staples, plus tea and smoothies. I was especially happy to find whole milk available (a non-negotiable for me at any coffee or tea spot).
They also have a selection of light food options, including quiche, sandwiches, and baked goods. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the genuine Southern hospitality. Ann was an absolute sweetheart. Even as the shop was nearing closing time, she was gracious and accommodating--offering suggestions, sharing the name of their coffee and espresso brand, and taking the time to look up a few products we discussed while she prepared my drink. She has that warm, down-home charm that many of us small-town folks hope Pooler won't lose as it continues to grow so quickly. If the rest of the staff are even half as welcoming, this could easily become a true community gathering place.
As for the atmosphere, the space is expansive, with two floors, and already seems popular for studying and working. Ann mentioned that the entire shop can be reserved for special events, either during or after hours, with any food and beverage purchases applied toward the hourly rate. I'm no event-planning expert, but it would make a wonderful setting for a bridal shower, birthday gathering, or similar celebration. read more
