I went here to get an oil change and check some small issues before a road trip. I told them I've been having some issues with my car squealing and squeaking and that I thought it might be a belt of some kind. They didn't check the belts at all the first time, but when I went back to have them check the transmission levels, I asked again. I was told the belts were fine and that the sound was my AC compressor and that it wouldn't impact the drivability. Drove a total of 28 hours for this road trip there and back and thankfully made it home. A couple days after, I started smelling burning rubber when I would turn. Today, I got some engine lights popping up, so I took it to a nearby shop. My engine belt was completely shredded (pic attached) and I was told this damage wasn't possible in the short time between my checkup and today, even with the long drive.
This was incredibly dangerous and I had no idea. I'm lucky we made it there and back safely. I'm supposed to be able to trust the word of the people working on my car because I don't know better than them. If I did, I'd fix things myself. I can't say I'll ever take my car back to grease monkey ever again after this. I don't understand how something like this gets missed, especially when the driver specifically directs them to the issue. It's baffling. read more
