This review is for the actual Estimate Process & Estimate Only. Would have possibly given 5 stars but the final Estimate took one star away for us. We were looking to install AC as our house does not have one. We do have a whole house fan use it but time of use is limited to temperature. We wanted to get this for the humidity which has not exceeded a total of 8 weeks out of ain the past 22 years. John arrived at the scheduled time, went around the property and surveyed the area. Since this was not our first estimate our request for specific quotes were fine tuned to include replacing the existing heater (ours is 30 yrs old with only 8 yrs of use but parts may be hard to come by) 1752 SqFt - 2 Story - New AC Install - Dual Zone Control NOTE: "NO SURPRISES" GUARANTEE: Once the work starts, the price quoted is the price you pay, even if the job entails more work than estimated Company offers Financing Options, Credit Cards (No Extra Charges for using the Card as payment method) John spent the time with us - preferred unit depends on package. 1. Diamond (AC Pro 19-20 SEER Air Conditioner & 2 Stage Variable Furnace) 2. Gold (ACPro 16 SEER 2 Stage Air Conditioner & variable Furnace) 3. Silver (AC Pro up to 16 SEER Single Stage Air & Variable Furnace) 4. Bronze (AC Pro 14 SEER Single Stage Air Conditioner & Single Stage Furnace) Our Estimates were broken down separately based on our requests : 16 SEER - Comfort Aire & 18 SEER replacing ducts, vents, additional thermostat & 2 zone system. Yearly Maintenance quoted: $89 Being this a new and costly project we tried to educate ourselves on questions to ask. 1. Size or Capacity System Do I Need. 2. Can the current Ductwork be Used. 3. Are there new Technologies I should consider. 4. What brands do you offer and why do you prefer those brands. 5. Do you handle all the necessary Permits and approvals with the local authorities. 6. Leak Testing & Cost (where applicable) 7. Do you offer payments - through your company or manufacture - at what cost. If paying by credit card is there an additional fee? 8. What kind of guarantee does the company make on the installation as well as the equipment. 9. Is a service contract included or available - what is covered under the contract - unit, ducts, etc. 10. Timetable for installation. 11. Will our current thermostat work with the new unit? 12. What is the recommended SEER rating. 13. Are the parts proprietary to the unit and how hard is it to get parts or get service once out of warranty 14. Is a surge protector included or recommended Also looked up the product recommended, customer reviews and satisfaction, service, repair, etc. Major factors to consider when making your decision, each of which will affect your final cost to install: Brand (some brands have more value than others but doesn't mean they are more expensive) , features (only buy what you need & skip the rest), and contractor. From what I have extensively read, In most cases it really boils down to the installation of the equipment. With communicating HVAC systems many of the systems problems are due to faulty installation as some installers don't have the experience or expertise to do it correctly. Unfortunately the estimate received was well beyond what we could justify spending and not stress out - as this was more of a want than need. If we had high double digit savings this probably would not be an issue. read more
