It's never good to be driving in rush hour traffic on a wing and a prayer! If you've never heard that expression, it simply means you're driving on little to no gas. So, when my gas light constantly stayed on, I got off at the next exit to search for the nearest gas station. Not sure if it was hot outside, but the formation of tiny beads of sweat started to roll down my face, and I can't have sweat and my gas light on simultaneously! Thank God, I drove upon a gas station, Arco, because it was too hot to push my car and/or wait for roadside service. Rarely, if ever, do I use Arco for gas but, given the circumstances, I had no choice and decided to get a little gas until I got to my area to fill up with my regular selection of gas. To my surprise, this particular gas station, and I think all Arco's are this way, require customers to pay with cash or use a debit card. In addition, if you use your debit card, there's a fee. This day in age, not many people carry a lot of cash but I'm glad I had some cash in my wallet, as I don't trust all places with my debit card. I went inside this place to inquire if there were any exceptions with the use of a credit card and the young man said "no, only debit cards with a pin number". Well, I gladly gave him some cash for my gas and left. Honestly, Arco seems to be in many areas and I'm sure they have a profitable business. For those reasons, why are they not able to provide the convenience of allowing their customers to use credit cards at their gas stations? Perhaps, it's because banks charge a small fee for each transaction, but I'm sure Arco can afford it. With theft on the rise, many people don't feel safe standing on a gas station lot putting cash in a machine to pay for gas and/or putting their PIN number on a keypad at the pump and being charged ATM fees for doing so. Arco saved the day for me with gas, but I don't appreciate the inconvenience of their payment options and the costs associated for using your debit card. read more
