Here we have one of many overlooked restaurants on the Ave in the U District solely because it feels like it's somewhat pushed into a corner in the wall by a parking lot that doesn't have cars in it. This place was much better than what I expected! I came here on a Saturday for lunch with a friend. Use the central plaza parking garage on weekends for parking, but failing that, look carefully around for street parking as it does get dicey there.
You order up at the counter depending on what you want, and menus are placed near the front door and behind the cash register. They serve Asian fusion dishes here as advertised, including bibimbap, teriyaki, orange chicken and other things. Seating ranges from several tables close to the register to a smaller outside section lined with some tables around the perimeter of the kitchen. It was quite warm outside when I went, so most people ended up eating inside.
My friend and I both ordered the hot stone pot bibimbap to try things out. It came with just kimchi as our banchan, which was less than what I would have liked. But with the addition of their sauce and mixing everything up, everything was quite tasty! Nothing overly special to add but I loved how it was filling and the beef was very well-seasoned while somehow having the strongest flavor in the whole dish (which I actually like a lot).
I left here very satisfied, and would definitely come again to try their other dishes when I'm around the area! read more
