A decent neighborhood spot to check out. I came here on a Thursday evening with a party of 6. It was pretty empty at 5pm which was great. We ordered a few drinks, the escovitch wings, calamari, fries, chicken roti, the salmon and snapper.
Pros: the decor is really nice and I really enjoyed the music. It was mostly rnb music from the 90s. The hostess who was also the waitress was very pleasant as well.
Cons: I had the coco rum punch and mango martini. Both drinks were just okay. The rum punch honestly had a weird aftertaste and the mango martini just tasted like mango purée juice. They don't really do cocktails but rather simple drinks.
The wait time from ordering to getting our entrees was an hour. Granted we did have a couple of appetizers and we were a party of 6 but 2 of them were kids that shared an appetizer. When we ordered, there was only 3 other tables and 2 people at the bar so it wasn't as if they were busy. You could see other tables getting slightly frustrated as well. The excuse was that everything is fresh and from scratch but as my sister pointed out, don't most restaurants do the same??
The food wasn't bad but it also wasn't worth the wait in my opinion. The calamari honestly was the best part. My roti didn't have much flavor and my mom said her fish was just ok as well.
Overall: It's a decent neighborhood restaurant. I personally wouldn't come back unless they've managed to figure out staffing and adjust their recipes a bit. The prices of the food are a bit on the high side as well and I couldn't figure out how they justified it. I'm all for supporting neighborhood businesses but when it's and overall good experience.
Maybe I'd possibly come back for a drink, however that would be because I'm desperate for a drink but unwilling to drive to a place I know I'd actually enjoy it read more
