What a fantastic and unexpected experience dining at Fogon Criollo last week. Honestly, having dinner at this lovely restaurant was the highlight of my week. First off, the staff are wonderful. I've never dined in a Peruvian restaurant before, so I had some questions about the menu. The wait staff answered all of my questions, provided a sample of one of the dishes, and made some outstanding recommendations for me and my guest. To start, we ordered the Causa de Pollo. It is a beatifully layered dish with potatoes, chicken, avocado and a delicious sauce. I'd order this as a standalone meal it was so good! Get your camera out, this dish makes for a great photo opp! My partner ordered the Pesto with Chicken Milanesa. The hearty portion of noodles was tender and flavorful. My favorite dish of the evening was the beef criolla soup. It's a spicy beef broth made of onion, tomato, fried egg and noodles. It's flavorful, not too salty, and has a deliciously smooth texture and flavor. The dish comes with a side of fried bread.
