For main course I had the duck breast with duck confit with corn on the side. It was a bit underwhelming, with the breast being a bit dry and bland and not the greatest pairing with the sauce/glaze on the side. The leg confit was better though. My partner had the black cod, though, and that was easily the best dish of the evening. The cook with sear was perfect, and had a great maple glaze and leek that complemented the butteriness of the fish.

Situated mid-way on Sai Sha road between Ma On Sham and Saikung, you will find yourself driving into a small village road at first and then turning into this great big opening as if you have just left Hong Kong. there is ample parking for everyone here (and admittedly difficult to get to by public transport). There are 100 bays for you to practice your swings, as well as a 19th hole, pitching/ bunker practice area as well as a putting green. The entire range is dedicated to perfecting your play on the green. The lane fees are reasonable at 100 HKD/ hr and as many balls as your back will allow you to take a swing at- other practice areas are separately priced and as of writing I have not tried them personally- but they do look kosher enough. There is a small café/ food kiosk on site where visitors usually grab a drink or a bite after an intense practice session. Kids love it here because there is a lot of grass land around where they can go nuts. The only complaint that I would have with the location is that changing facilities are rather primitive and the bays are getting a bit tired with use and I don't foresee any plans to upgrade them. During the season (September to April) I love to sit outside the casual Sportman's Bar watching the matches. You have to be with a member in order to visit and they will have to pay for any food/drinks consumes via their membership card - cash is not accepted. As it's a membership based club, the prices are subsidised so you can eat and drink very well for a very reasonable price. There are a number of dining options from casual cafe settings to the buffet spread at the poolside Coffee Shop. There is even a small shop in the lobby and you can order meat through the Coffee Shop. I visit the club once a week to play early morning tennis. The courts are on the roof top and are of a pretty good standard, although the middle courts don't have much side room. The extractor fans that face courts 1-3 make is tricky to hear so courts 4-6 are the best choice. There is a vending machine that serves soft drinks and a water cooler inside. As well as tennis, the club has squash, basketball and netball courts plus a gym, pool and a golf simulator. The bowling alley is a hoot whilst kids will enjoy the indoor playground complete with ball pit. Make sure you silence your phone before entering the club or you/the member you are with will get hefty $500 fine. Bar the phone rule, the club is extremely relaxed. A great place to spend time, especially for those with families.

The Hong Kong Golf Open is held in this club. Over all the courses play differently, with bunkers to catch your errant shots and some water. It is not particularly challenging. Carts (buggies) are allowed on certain courses at certain times only. Caddies with different experience are also available. Before the game, it is well worth having a meal at the restaurant. The helpings are generous. Love the Hainan chicken rice. The barbecue pork is something to die for! After the game have a drink either in the air conditioned club house or in the verandah. The really nice thing about this club is the cold face towel for the players at the half way house and clubhouse. I wish more clubs would introduce this.
