Sorry to disappoint you but no, this is not a food court-type place that sells champagne instead of food. It is actually a group of stores that sell second hand cameras, lenses, and gear, both vintage and new.
I don't come here often and even when I do I rarely buy anything. To me it's much more of a museum then a place to shop. I love looking at the old cameras, the Minoltas, the Hasselblads, and other vintage devices that require film and not SD cards. It is a somewhat cathartic and inspiring process to inspect the bulky, unwieldy cameras because it really means if they could get some good shots back then, then what's my excuse now? Dam you, Facebook!
The shop owners are professionals, they know a camera inside and out, and are often seen within hunched over, trying to work out a kink in an old Nikon or Canon. That doesn't mean it's safe to buy what they are selling. More than a few products on display are for collectors rather than actual use, but the majority of items, the less expensive ones, are useable. I bought an old Minolta with a 50mm lens about three years ago and it's still clicking to this day. There's something about shooting with film that makes the process that much more creative, more artistic - instead of snap, snap, snap... oohh, snap, snap, snap... hmmm, snap.
I can't imagine non-photographers visiting Champange court, however, it really is an interesting activity just to stroll through the area, you never know, there may be a photographer inside of you yet! If you are going to buy anything be sure to do your research and ask to take a few blank photos first to check the shutter. read more
