This place is the real deal and for $540 for 90 minutes, it is a steal when compared to the US prices. But that is just half of the story. Ah Ping was my therapist. She is a special lady with a real talent in figuring out where it hurts and where she needed to focus. She literally has magical hands. Deep tissue is on tap for the day and oh boy, she is incredible. The icing on the cake is she is genuinely nice and caring. She doesn't speak English and prefers not to cater to non Chinese speakers. I am kind of nut about all things skincare! But the concept of Skin Laundry bringing IPL (Intense Pulsed Light therapy) and Yag laser technology to the masses, outside the care of an MD on sight or dermatologist office and in a classy branded atmosphere, was worthy of the visit. If you are experienced with the benefits and results of having had IPL (photofacial?) and laser technology (Yag or otherwise) at a dermatologist office, Skin Laundry is most likely not for you (maybe I might be wrong). Why? Because unlike your dermatologist customizing the laser strength to meet your specific skin needs, Skin Laundry only goes minimal in depth in pentratation (it is one strength for all clients...maybe this is why they can do this outside the derm office and MD on-sight oversight in some ways). If you have never experienced the benefits of tighter skin, clearer pores, reduced discoloration that laser technology offers (amongst other things), Skin Laundry is a great entry point, so absolutely go and try it. There are several Skin Laundry outlets around Hong Kong. This one happens to be located inside Lane Crawford at IFC amongst all the beauty products and skincare lines. Did I mention Skin Laundry also has a skincare line? Being an eyecream hoarder of sorts, I have to say that their eye cream is pretty decent (its the caffeine in the cream, I am certain). But they sell everything from serums to sunscreen. I am only trying out the eyecream, so I cannot attest to the other products. If you are a skincare nut like me, it comes down to the science and the ingredients, plain and simple. Fancy packaging and a good price does not matter a lick if the science and ingredients that it should have are not there to solve your skincare problems or concerns. Skin Laundry skin care products seem like a pretty decent line, but not so if you are use to SKII and 3Lab (it is all relative to what you know, I suppose) Anyway...back to the the IPL and Yag laser service. So you can make an appointment on-line or call, show up, they will have you answer some questions on an I-Pad about your skincare concerns and sign a waiver when you arrive, then escort you back to their one spa room (yeah, one at a time at this location). Although the staff are not dermatologists, they are well versed in clearly explaining exactly what they are going to be doing. There were two staff there when I was there. One spoke English, the other did not. The whole process takes about 10-15 minutes. If you have never had anything like this done before and do not have skin sensitivity, you will see a clearer tone to your face right away and it will kind of continue to improce a bit throughout the day. After your treatment, you will be encouraged to purchase a package and/or Skin Laundry products to enhance your skin care and experience. They are only doing their job in trying to sell you a package and there is a benefit to going regularly if you are committed to seeing results, but know you can always simply pay as you go one, appointment at a time. The hard core press to sell you a package is part of the experience, but again, don't let that discourage you, but let it encourage you if you loved your experience (because clearly the price comes down per session with a package). For one session, it cost $550HKD. Beauty does not come cheap and although this is less expensive than a dermatologist office, it also does not penetrate to depths beyond their standard level. So although Skin Laundry might not be for me simply because I am use to a higher grade of laser technology via a dermatologist, I thought Skin Laundry was great. Clean, zen like atmosphere, good quality experience. If you have been interested in the benefits of lasers as it applies to your face, absolutely book an appointment and see for yourself.

Being a US- based company, I thought they wouldn't be as pushy but not so. For results, the immediate after-effect was cleaner, brighter skin. However after the first day my skin returned to its previous state. Not sure what the long term effect is, but after 5 sessions I didn't notice much change beyond post-treatment on the same day. Might give laser facials another try, but wouldn't go to skin laundry again.

I'm used to dryer weather as I grew up in California and sometimes the makeup gets clogged in my pores with the humidity in Hong Kong. Yuck! So when I am in need of a deep good cleanse, I come and find Regina. She also has good machines to help with freckle removal. I have some freckles that started to develop from my habits of tanning when I was a child and now they have resurfaced. With technology and Regina's expertise, I signed up for a ten deal package where she uses the machines and targets my freckles with a laser. It's a slight burning sensation but no pain no gain right? So for beauty, I will sacrifice! It's been my third treatment so far and results have been pretty good and obvious. Very clean, which is most important to me. 2) they have a proper foot spa for pedicure treatments. 3) staff are professional, they do great follow ups, remember your preference and remind you to make the next booking. 4) they are able to arrange mani and pedi treatments simultaneously. Save you a lot of time! 5) they have shops at very convenient locations and I can use my package at any of these places. 6) their packages are reasonable. They're not cheap cheap, but I think it's quite reasonable for what they offer. They have a bunch of other services like massage, facial etc. which I haven't tried myself. They asked me to fill in some info about myself and led me to the room. The masseuse, who's one of the managers, explained the point of the massage to me and warned me that it could be a little painful however it turned out to be quite pleasant. She was very professional and made every movement with a lot of CARE. That lasted for about an hour and she then introduced me to the skin therapist who examined my skin and recommended some treatment, all included within my coupon. I agreed and just trusted her for the rest of the hour of AMAZING service. Mask for the eyes, for the mouth, for the rest of the face skin, even for the hands! And omg, she even reshaped my eyebrows. What a great professional. Seriously, I had to tell her. The last part of the session I had the mask on for (I think) 20 minutes, but I was so relaxed and happy I fell asleep and dreamed! When I came out she explained to me various treatments I could follow according to my skin type and told me I could get the trial price by leaving a deposit of 100HKD. Since I didn't know when or whether I could come back, I decided not to but it's a good offer. Anyway, the Greek have beautiful lands, especially futile for cultivating organic products. I normally use the lip balm, shampoo, conditioner and masks from here. The store in Causeway is great, because it's convenient and the shop attendants are helpful in suggesting what is good for your skin type. My skin is on the dry side, so the shop attendant recommended a few masks for me to use, including the royal jelly, propolis, and pomegranate. One package can last me two nights, which makes it really reasonable to buy compared to some other masks. After using the royal jelly mask, i felt like my skin was glowing for a few days after using it. I love the feeling you get when you wash your face off and feel your face for the first time! The eye masks are also great, they are ultra moisturising and soft. I accidentally got some into my eye while washing the mask off, in the beginning, i felt my eyes a little blurry but after a few moments, it was fine, didn't sting at all. I highly recommend this brand and this shop location too. The shop attendants were professional and knew what they were talking about.

You can receive free samples after meeting certain purchase minimums, which they display at the register. I purchased the "My Lash Serum" which is apparently great for growing lashes, several eye liners both liquid and pencil, and the Collagen moistfull essence-in-pact powder. You will find that many of their products only come in one color, but they allow you to test any product, which generally is translucent enough to fit most (Asian) skin tones. I am generally looking for Asian cosmetic products that are hard to find in the States, and I highly recommend this brand and store for it's cute packaging, affordable prices, and stress-free shopping experience (compared to Sasa)!

The therapist was very attentive and careful and made sure I was at ease at all times, even though my eyes watered like a river when she attacked my blackheads. For you guys who are also spa virgins, the full routine went like this: 1. Shirts off (there's a towel over you) and lie down, lights dim and the therapist cleans your face and neck twice while you doze off because it actually is a comfortable face massage. 2. Exfoliation. She continues to massage your face, this time with exfoliation cream, and it's done very gently so you stay asleep. 3. She covers your eye area with some eye masks and probably to prevent you from seeing what comes next. 4. You hear the steam machine and start feeling the heat on your face. Feels a bit like the sun is moving your way; you wonder if it will overheat and melt your eyes. 5. It doesn't. But the lights go on so it really does feel like the sun coming your way now. But nothing compared to what comes next. 6. She tells you "extraction now, this might hurt". And yep, she don't lie. Imagine someone pricking different areas of your face with a needle, sometimes light sometimes hard depending on the severity of the blackhead in that spot. Your eyes are still covered luckily, so she doesn't see that your eyes are watering now. Good news is it gets better apparently when your skin is better come second time. 7. Quick face mask session, where you can take relief and relax. You are done. 8. Some spots stay red for a day and then your skin gets smoother and looks clearer too. A thousand bucks and hour is pretty expensive for an hour, but the effect was noticeable and in my opinion I will be coming back for the mini version - express/rejuvenation facials which are half the time and price. Extras: - They have a range of their own brand grooming products. The shaving stuff remains expensive, but the face products like moisturizers and cleansers are actually not. - They are quite reputable for their Hemmingway treatment - a facial/massage combo that comes with a Bloody Mary, designed to spa you back to sobriety. All for a cool HKD 1,700 in 2 hours. Hey, if you can pay to get that drunk, you can ball out to restoration too.
