In Hong Kong standards, the place is reasonably spacious in Hong Kong standards, and there's a lot of people around to help. Bonjour wasn't particularly busy during my visit, but it's pretty clear that this place is still quite popular amongst mainland tourists.

In Hong Kong and most of Asia, small pharma-chains like Fanda are more geared toward beauty products and pills with very little inbetween. This location has the touristy edge for being right along Nathan Road near the A2 MTR entrance/exit with a staff that is eager to help. There is no need for appointments, just come in. The nice thing about medicine out here is there are few restrictions on certain common meds found out west. From sleep medication to pain management to all sorts of specialty meds, it is likely here. The brand name medication is likely to be more expensive, so be prepared to seek out the generic stuff if needs be. Calling ahead of time may prove to be problematic for non-Canto speakers, though the staff should be able to handle most requests in English. I would recommend coming prepared with a picture of the drug or brand name so they can find it quickly. They sell in bulk and also take credit card, though cash is always preferred. No word on the beauty products, but the last time I peeped their prices for nail clippers and lotion, the markup was more significant than some of the nearby Watson's and street vendors.

I was impressed with the product selection. Came here looking for some mosquito repellent for a trip to Malaysia. I was searching the store for it until I got help from one of the staffers here. She brought me over to their selection of insect repellent products which was quite extensive. I got the one which you stick on your clothing. Upon using it, I wouldn't recommend it as it comes off easily due to perspiration. Get the spray variety. Deet is preferable if you can stand the odor. Although the product didn't work as great as I liked, I appreciated the helpfulness of the staff here. I don't usually find that level of service at drugstores in the US. If you have any drugstore needs and are in the area, I would recommend this Mannings store.

I actually visited several Mannings outlets there, but since I bought the most items in the HK International Airport, this outlet is what I chose to review. That, and because I forgot the locations of the other outlets. For starters, they offer good discounts on selected personal care items, such as 70% off on luxury face creams or 50% off on hair care products. And these products aren't your throwaway brands; these are decent mid-range products that you can use every day. Anyway, I was on the last leg of our vacation and still with a wad of HK$ to spend on myself. Sure I could save them, but I didn't fly all the way to HK and convert my cash just to decide to reconvert it to PHP at the last moment. I wanted to convert my cash into skincare: cash gets saved, my face gets wrinkled - where's the fun in that? So I raided the store for various creams, serums, lip balms, and masks on sale, only to find out at the checkout counter that I was short by HK$50. I forgot that I blew a portion of my money on chocolates a few floors away. Glutton. Apologizing profusely, I prepared to withdraw my purchases, but the cashier dumped my items on the counter. "Nonono!" she exclaimed in heavily accented English. "You take away what you don't need, yah? Then I count again for you. S'okay, yah?" I threw out the lip balms (who needs duck lips anyway, when ducks don't even have lips). I was still short by HK$26. Panicked, I fished out a bunch of loose extra coins from my purse. The cashier continued, "I count your coins for you, yah?" And luckily, I had enough to cover the rest of my purchases. No way was I letting go of that collagen serum because my eyebags won't let go of my face. On a recent trip to HK, I discovered that I'd caught a cold and forgotten my deodorant, and the Sheraton's concierge directed me here straightaway. It's a narrow storefront but quite deep, so don't be discouraged. They had everything I needed, spoke perfect English, and had me back out the door in minutes. If you're a business traveler or working nearby, this Watson's outpost is sure to have everything that you need to get you back to health or make you presentable.
