If you're looking for one of the nicer karaoke clubs in Hong Kong, CEO is a good option. I was…read moreinvited to this place by a friend when I was visiting Hong Kong a few years back. I thought at that moment that all places looked like this. When I moved here, I was quick to learn that was far from truth. CEO is just more presentable. Its situated on the corner of the block in Causeway Bay, across the road from Victoria Park. It has a capacity to hold roughly 600 people over several floors. The rooms are spacious surprisingly private. The song selections are plenty in both Chinese and English. As usual with most karaoke places in Hong Kong, CEO offers different specials throughout the day. There is a lunch buffet, tea buffet, and evening buffet all for reasonable prices. If you're not there for the food, you have other options. For those strictly there for singing your heart out and boozing with friends, you'd be happy to know that the price you pay per hour is also how much credit you have towards ordering your own bottles of vodka or whiskey. They have a few choices for mixers you can choose to come along with your alcohol. If you drink over your credit, you would just have to settle the bill in the end. One thing to note, is that you need to be a member in order to book a room here. If you're not a member, that isn't a big issue. All you need to do is pay the 'member's fee' of $10HKD, fill out a small form, and voilà, you're set. Be sure to book at least a few days in advance if you're looking to have a big group with you during the weekends and especially during holidays. The staff here are nice and friendly. Most can communicate with you in English and all very happy to help. The overall cleanliness of the establishment is good. I would definitely recommend this place to people that enjoy a good karaoke session in Hong Kong.

Red MR KTV, a name that evokes warmth and heated passion. It's a name that plays well into the fact…read morethey are conjoined with a Szechuan restaurant, the fiery cuisine of China that isn't just an inspiration for a Mcdonalds sauce. Hot vocals, hot food, that's what Red MR represents. Well all this is nice, until you step into the room and it's 15 degrees! Damn it Hong Kong, and your obsession with AC overuse! How am I supposed to belt out my out-of-tune Lady Gaga songs when I'm hunched over trying to maintain all of my body heat?? I don't know the people here well enough to cuddle with them, don't force me into that awkward situation! Despite the freezer you call a room, Red MR ranks as the best karaoke place I've been to. Don't get excited, my standard was very low coming from Toronto, but still I was impressed. Service was faaaantastic. We were led to our room and the door opened for us. There was constantly someone coming in to clean the tables and fix equipment, but not enough to be a nuisance. MOST IMPORTANTLY, we were never kicked out of our room! Some places boot you out the moment your time is up even if no one needs the room afterwards. Food was top notch. Call it sad, but the places I've been to for karaoke usually only have the deep fried basics. Fries and onion rings all night. Well as I said before, Red MR is connected to a Szechuan restaurant. It has the entire restaurant menu (so yes, you can order an entire crispy roast chicken, or xiao long bao) on top of a significantly improved karaoke food menu. I'm talking about ramen, rice bowls, all parts of a chicken (cartilage is the best), skewer platters, a variety of smoothies, I could go on. My one complaint. Song selection is meh. A lot of the songs we had didn't even have lyrics, but in the age of Google, it's not too big of a deal. Sure, there were some welcome surprises...like Pen Pineapple Apple Pen. But where's Eminem's Lose Yourself? It's the closest I'll ever get to an epic rap battle with my Asian friends. Thought that maybe it'd be better on the cantopop side...BUT NO TWINS? WHAT? HOW? HKD $289/person minimum order for 3 hours. Reasonable price for good food and good service at a decent karaoke place. But no full marks because I couldn't even lose myself in the music, the moment, couldn't ever let it go... (37/100) - 2017

They have TONS of American songs (and I'm sure canto-pop, but I since we don't do Canto we didn't pay much attention to that list) so we were able to keep our playlist filled. The food is just ok - the typical food you'll want to eat when you're having a beer. Ramen soup, onion rings, chicken wings, etc. So, grab a mike and sing your heart out.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of karaoke but when I have to go, I always go to Red MR…read more Karaoke is just not my type of thing, I understand a lot of people love to sing and have fun at the Karaoke room but I prefer singing in the shower and having fun at a club. Although, I have to admit that doing karaoke is great for a large group of friends and popping bottles at a Karaoke room is way cheaper than at a club. So, why Red MR but not other Karaoke places? One crucial reason is that they have a lot more and new English songs than the others. They features a lot of western singers, like Lana Del Rey, Snoop Dog, Adele, P!nk, David Guetta and more. Their selection of songs gives me a reason to go back every time. Beside, they serve really decent food at Red MR. I still remember my first time going to a Karaoke place and had a disgustingly greasy, tasteless fried rice. That was such an unpleasant and disgraceful experience and that completely ruined my impression of a Karaoke place. I swear I'm not going back to that Karaoke place anymore because their food simply sucks. However, Red MR is a very good surprise. They have a lovely menu featuring Japanese food, like skewers and ramen. Don't expect anything authentic but they are otherwise good with a very reasonable price. All in all, if you fancy a karaoke night, Red MR is the place to go .
