They also sell a large amount of beauty products in the front of the store, and right by the doors, and there is a small table with pre-prepared fresh food. This is the real treasure. I was able to enjoy a delicious lunch that consisted of various sauteed vegetables and potatoes in sauces, and a piece of fish in a salty chili sauce, all served over rice. The entire combination was only $23. Eaten with the bag of crispy fish crackers I bought, it was perfectly filling and I would enjoy eating it again. I also purchased a jar of sauce for fried chicken (unfortunately, one of the few with no preservatives or chemical additives), mini shrimp-filled eggrolls, and a bag of freeze dried jackfruit. Wandering the isles for many minutes, I was undisturbed by sales staff, and my cashier was excellently friendly.

For quite a while, Hong Kong has pride herself for being multicutural. Indeed, when you walk along…read morethe streets between Tin Hau and Causeway bay, it feels like you are in Indonesia rather than in Hong Kong, walking down Central and Admiralty and you will think you are in the Philippines instead. Southeast Asian has contributed a lot of manpower to Hong Kong and it is only fair to set up some stores and shops to ease their homesickness. Indo market is exactly the place to go to, although I am not sure whether the reason for it's establishment really is to sooth the homesick Southeast Asian population. In this market you can find the most authetic ingredients and snacks imported directly from places like Indonesia and Malaysia. Kaya paste, durian jam are just some of the examples. Not only dry goods are available here, even something fresh! Lime leaves, fresh lemon grass, sweet basil... basically the ingredients you would find in any Southeast Asian dishes could be found here; so I bet this is the best place to go to if you want to make those dishes from scratch at home. Whereas for snacks, dried durian and crackers with durian filling are not something you would normally see in ordinary supermarkets and they could be found in abundance here. How about ginger tea? Different brands are offered here for you to choose from. Some like it sweet while others like it hot and spicy; there is even a brand that adds chili to boost up the heat factor. I could go on and on and describe the many special items here but it would be unthoughtful of me to bore you with my wordy and lengthy descriptions. Seriously, if you want a taste of Southeast Asia without leaving Hong Kong, go to this place and I am sure what you buy here in the shop will look pretty much like the souvenirs you buy over there in Indonesia.

There are so many things to love about Park 'N Shop -- Clean, great prices, great selection... It's…read morereally a great supermarket for this shopping center. Pretty much anything you can find in any other market in the nearby malls (outside of specialty medicines from Watson's), you can pretty much find here. Conveniences such as bottled water, cold medicine, wet wipes, etc. are at prices competitive with even the cheaper shops around. But this does not translate to low quality -- you'll find the big international brands here as well at great prices (especially good if you're a traveler and looking for specific hygiene and toiletry items). Also surprising is how good their bakery and prepared foods are (especially the sushi). Excellent prices but equal to restaurant quality.

city'super is a Hong Kong grocery store chain that focuses on upscale foods. Particularly imported…read moreitems. This would be the place to go if you are an ex-pat looking for foods from home, particularly from the US and Europe. This location is on the second floor of New Town Plaza Phase 1. Being from the US, this store does not quite appeal as much to me, but just checked it due to curiousity. The prices on the US goods were understandably high. But they do carry some interesting items. Particularly those from Europe that make me want to grab them here since I wouldn't be able to find them back in the US. There are also a few food stands here selling some interesting fare. There is a stand selling matcha desserts for instance. While perusing I came across a fridge full of freshly squeezed juices that I thought was cool. Grabbed a bottle of guava and passion fruit juice for HK$24. Not the cheapest place, but the bottle design was interesting and I needed some refreshment. If you get it, be sure to drink it quickly as fresh juices don't last for long. If you happen to be at New Town Plaza, city'super is worth perusing through. Interesting products found here, albeit at higher prices than elsewhere.

I walked out of here with a nice bottle of vintage Bordeaux, cured meats and toy's for the kids. One stop shop and the service here is impeccable, I had an issue with waiting in line with my grocery and did not have enough hands to push my kid's stroller thru the line with me, I had asked if someone can help me and one of the grocery helpers told me that they can stand next to the stroller with my kids while I finish paying and check out.

But it's probably because the area I am staying at is a tourist area. The store is somewhat crowded with many things. Well this is an interesting nugget. Business in the front, party in the back. But instead of that,…read moreit's sushi shop in the front and snack store in the back. Having basically lived on Hennessy Road, I passed by this little Japanese-style store often. Always intriguing to see the menu of hand rolls and then just a little further, chips and candy galore. Is their sushi the best? Nah. It's fast food and take-out. They don't even have seats because...well they're a snack shop. There are a few tall tables to stand around but that's it. No one's expecting you to hang around too long anyway. Their bright interior might be inviting, but it's a quick shop stop at its core. There are all types of boxed sushi and a team of rollers cranking out hand rolls on demand. Pretty standard grocery store variety and quality, including salmon roe and uni (didn't dare to try uni at a take-out place). Their California hand roll was an interesting interpretation: egg, crab meat, flying fish roe, and lots of mayo.Yes, interesting. Once you're done with that, you might as well grab a limited edition cherry blossom coke from the fridge. Or some bottled peach sake. And with the $10 you save on 2 hand-rolls when checking in on Facebook, you can buy a bag of Calbee for the road. Wow! Much convenience! (32/100) - 2018

If you love oysters, fresh food then you should not miss this place…read more Ocean Three paved the way in Hong Kong in offering fresh seafood and fine meats at a discounted price- I mean discounted in the sense that you could pick up coffin bay oysters at 14 HKD each; not cheap by some countries standards but dirt cheap by how much restaurants and hotels charge you. Its innovative in the sense that you cannot dine in, even the shop itself is rather rudimentary- set in an industrial building you will not find it by just walking around. It is literally a warehouse location with a huge fridge and you just go there to pick up your orders. Apart from oysters, they offer sea urchin (a delicacy in these parts), prawns, scallops, crabs. Meat wise they offer fine angus beef steaks and lamb shanks. They do offer more but their menu is just too long to describe here; what I could say is that their prices are almost unbeatable though there are some new competition popping up around town in trying to share this growing market. The drawbacks of this place? well its not easy to find, if you don't drive then it is a bit of a trek to come pick things up, you have to shuck oysters yourself (NOT an easy task for the uninitiated) and more importantly; you have to order at least 2 days before so you have to plan ahead if you want to buy from them. I would say this though: for the price you pay and the quality they give you- its alright to plan ahead because they never let you down.

Be careful as this place does not accept credit cards so luckily my 八達通 had enough on it to cover the purchase or else we'd be SOL. Still not sure why this store isn't closer to the actual restaurant which would've made the purchase easier.
