You can find interesting kitchenware like egg yolk separators, neat picture frames, cool light fixtures... you get the gist. To be honest, I can't think of a similar place in Singapore that compares, and that is also in an affordable price range like Homeless is. This probably explains why my husband and I ended up buying one of those funky looking dusters, a pretty picture frame, and a moosehead-shaped cutting board (that's right- I found a moose in Hong Kong!) I wouldn't put this store on your must-visit list, especially if you're not in the market for home goods, but considering I can't find similar styles in Singapore and prices are a good here, a visit to Homeless is always welcome!

Well given the vibe and hipster-ness on Gough Street, Homeless certainly has its fame. Everyone loves spending some time here woo-ing the design of things they have. It's a shame I'm a strong believer of "Form follows Function", and overwhelming designs are just not my thing. Also, whenever you buy your first item here... it's so great it would definitely stands out at your apartment. And the only logical solution is... buy more. Make your house like a designer's house. Ops. Before you know it, you now have a dozen different expensive and useless decors at home. So yeah, the a few times I wasn't window shopping, I came here and looked for specific items. The staff were so chilled that they didn't seem to care about if you got what you wanted to buy (imagine the opposite of the "shadow-sales" at SaSa). I wanted a box. Wooden, metal, jewelry box, don't care. Staff showed me the only two "boxes" they had. Of course they were designer boxes and didn't quite serve the purpose of being a box. I will come back again only if I buy gifts for friends, because that gonna be best use of useless decors.

Laundry soap, cleaning supplies, organizational boxes, light bulbs, alarm clocks, de-humidifying products, batteries, pillows, rice cookers, small toaster ovens, office supplies, post-it notes, pens, candles,....crammed full, a little bit of everything....no food, no toiletries, but really everything else. It is also less crowded than the branches on Hong Kong Island, so that's a plus. I consider it as in alternative to IKEA and Pricerite, especially when I want more quirkier home goods. Homeless has been going at it since 2003 when they had their first store. Two years later, they established their foothold in Hong Kong Island by opening a flagship store in Central. The most significant thing that I found out about furniture stores is the difference of how they make you feel at home. Homeless provides this atmosphere the most, with dim lighting and and a rustic feel. IKEA has it but mostly it feels like you are in a warehouse, while Pricerite is neat and clean that feels prefabricated. Aside from the furniture, my favorite thing about Homeless is the numerous choices of accessories. I have found pen stands, magnets, clothes hangers, and other cool bric-a-brac. The huge catalog that Homeless sells consists of lighting fixtures, various clocks, chairs and tables, art sculptures and kitchenware. They also carry niche furniture brands from Europe and Asia as well as other hard-to-find and obscure brands. I will be moving house late next year and plan to redecorate our flat with lots more of Homeless goodies this time around. Located at the top levels of The One in TST, I wasn't even aware of the name of this shop at first. I just remember there is a place that was rather dim and sells mainly designer appliances and gadgets above the cinema of The One and is not a place that I would normally go. Nonetheless, when it comes to present giving seasons, this shop is always at the top of my list to go to; not least because there is some real originality in the items sold there and would make decent gifts. Thick card boards puzzled together into a stool? Check. Chessboard that is not flat but with creases and dimples? Check. Put it this way, for the items sold here, certain time has to be allowed before you can figure out what exactly the object is; that is what I call design with thoughts. This make the gifts that much more interesting as finding out how the thing actually works become part of the fun. I am most certain that if I am keen on decorating my room or have the say in what to put and how to put, the whole shopping experience would definitely be more engaging; yet the space and the placing of the items make it already enjoyable enough to just walk around and fussing around with the stuffs there.
