The first time I was made aware of Photo Scientific was during one of my photography classes some years ago... many years ago. We needed to buy photographic paper so we could enlarge our photos in the dark room - a really cool process by the way. I plodded along through central one day and walked into the store. I was slightly intimidated because the people there, a pair of older men, simply stared at me as if waiting for me to leave. I looked around, found what I was looking for, paid then left. It was this nervous experience that kept me from coming back for a while, but then I did, when I was older and braver.
It turns out the men were less scary and more bored, and were more than happy to help me around the shop. The shop itself sells some high end camera lenses, GoPros, cameras, and loads, I mean loads, of camera bags. They also sell, on order only, some studio strobe lights for the serious photographers out there. It seems to be geared more for the photographer that knows what he's doing and what he's looking for rather than a new recruit. Nowadays I pop in once in a blue moon to buy a roll of black and white film (Not the cheap stuff from photo express!) and I also bring that film back to be developed at the same shop. I'll have a look at what they are selling but I'll know full well that the price they are charging is about 5-10% higher than Sham Shui Po or Mong Kok. read more
