There is so much to see in Hong Kong that is new, and this temple offers a nice traditional retreat. The inside is small, but with the layers of insence it's very beautiful.

This might be the prettiest place I've been to in Hong Kong, and is 2nd on my list for must see attractions (Big Buddha on Lantau is first). It's a wonderful place to escape the city and find a sense of calm. The flower ponds in front of the temple are wonderful to marvel at, the many bonsai trees and bits of green, then of course the many angles to view the beautiful buildings. There is so much to admire. No photos are allowed inside the temple, which is a great respect to the nuns and people attending for prayer and religious reasons. There are many statues of Buddha and a courtyard once you enter. Downstairs is a nice souvenir shop with jewelry, trinkets, refreshments, and more. This temple proved to be a very special visit, it exuded a level of peace that is hard to come by.

It was super crowded, but it was organized that there is only one way in, and one way out. There are a lot of different section that was set up, so I stopped by each station to pay respect and pray for my wishes. Staff were friendly and available to help when needed. This temple is not only for praying, but it is also a symbol of the traditional Chinese culture. I would say this is one of the must visit spot in Hong Kong.

True. Tai Hang has been undergone quite a lot of transformation. With new bars and shops showing up…read moreevery day, Tai Hang certainly does not lose its traditional side. And its Lin Fa Temple (Or Lotus Temple) proves that Tai Hang is also a cultural hub to amidst the vibrant neighborhood. Before you enter the temple you may also see the streets filled with little stalls that sell offerings and incense (as one expects). You will be at awe to be standing in front of this magnificent historic building that has over a hundred and fifty year of history. Granted, it is certainly not as big as one would have expected, yet it plays a vital part in local celebrations. For example, it is built to pay respect to the Goddess of Mercy, as known as Kwan Yin, who seems to protect everyone at sea, by setting this temple next to the huge lotus rock. However, for most locals, people come here for the fortune tellers as I also have heard that those have rather accurate prediction towards ones' life. I am not a superstitious person but I will call that an experience. Inside the temple you may also see lanterns in the shape of lotus lighting up the temple, which is both beautiful and spiritual. Notice that this establishment is also listed as a Grade I historic building, so if fortune telling is not your taste, that certainly is if you are in it for some historic Chinese architecture.

I do try to make a point and check them out now that I have properly learned how to bow and light incense! (Thanks Peter C!) I am always fascinated by them and enjoy the wafting smell of incense even before I actually get inside the temple! I said I do enjoy it but when I've hit my "nose" threshold I gotta go! I'm glad this one was small and while I do enjoy the larger temples with the hanging incense this one did not have it, it was the right size for it's location which is on a busy street corner! This temple was very small with just one large main room. There were a couple of smaller urn areas around it but one main one adorned with flowers and offerings. I will say that the steps getting to the top (and it's not a lot of steps since it's only 1 level up from the street) the steps are just short and steep (like most everywhere in HK) but watching this elderly lady made me cringe. Obviously, there are no elevators but at least they have handrails. Safety first! Although I didn't stay long I paid my respects and left. Overall it's nothing spectacular or exciting just another temple. I noticed there are nearby restrooms just to the right side of the temple.
