The customer service that I received was stellar. I was surprised, coming from the United States postal service. However, I needed to see 2 different people at 2 different windows because I was sending several large parcels as well as some smaller pieces of mail. Both were quite helpful and friendly, even though I had lots that I needed their help with. I visited during the busy Christmas and holiday season, but the lines were not that bad, and I got all of my business done in a relatively short amount of time. Also, nobody bothered me when I left the large suitcase but I brought all of my packages in on one side of the room underneath the counter. I think that if I was to do something similar in America, some security guard would've come up to hassle me immediately. Hahaha. If you are mailing several large parcels like I was, keep in mind that there is an escalator up to the second floor of this building, so you don't have to lug your burden up the stairs. Cheap as chips to send air mail back to North America/Western Europe compared to the prices to ship this way and efficient despite the long queues (over 20 minutes at this location). Id'd recommend if you are heading to Kennedy Town to use that Post Office if you can or any place in the Southern District if you are heading that way since the queues are likely to be quite long here.

I am old school that way and believe in putting pen to paper with the written word. I was happy to find a post office in my hood when we recently moved to Sheung Wan. As an English speaking person, I was happy to find all individuals who are working at the post office speak English. They are quite nice really....dealing with those often long lines of people all day, I am glad they all seem quite nice. Avoid the long lines and absolutely do not go around the end or the beginning of the month, where it seems like every 8 out of 10 people in line are there to pay a bill. Horribly convenient if you want to pay a bill (versus on-line I suppose), but horribly inconvenient if like me that you are sending snail mails like birthday cards and postcards back to the US. There are moments when I am here and feel like this is really a bill paying facility that happens to do postage. There is an "express" line if you have 3 bills or less and it is hit or miss if that lane is busy. I also find the post office is the only place that I can spend the abundance of small coinage like 5, 10, 50 cent pieces where they do not look at me in horror when I whip out my change purse. Good way to get rid of the small change we accumulate all too often in Hong Kong.

Your other option in Central is to go to the Wyndham street post office, but I still prefer this Sheung Wan location for the multiple counters and faster service.
