Heard about this place on Tiktok and knew it was a must during my quick trip to Turkey. The restaurant is decent sized, though it does get really crowded. Buy they do a good job in fitting as many people as they can. It is indoor AND outdoor seating (I didn't see any other review mention the is seating). The menu is super simple with just one entree and a few appetizers; they bring all of it out to you. So, you don't even really need to look at a menu. They move quick; we were in & out within 30 minutes. And the food is absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend.

Visited on a Friday night around 7pm with a friend. Place was packed but a few open spots were available so we were seated pretty quickly. Food: Cag Kebab plate which came with two skewers of grilled lamb and two thin pieces of flatbread along with sumac onions. Lamb was well cooked, fairly tender with a nice char, pieces were nice an bite size, two was the perfect portion for a light dinner. Flatbread was great, nice tender chew great for creating little wraps. Onions and sumac added additional layers of texture and flavor which were nice that you could build them into each bite if you wanted the sharpness of the onion and acidity from the sumac. Tomato Cucumber Salad - Nice and refreshing, this added freshness and balance to the grilled lamb. Spicy Tomato Sauce - Not very spicy, wish this has a touch more heat, but nice to have a bright tangy sauce to accompany the grilled lamb. Service was no frills, quick and efficient with a super simple menu. They sometimes even walk around with the side dishes & dessert, you can just let them know which items you want. Overall a great spot for Cag Kebab, fairly priced and really quick and easy meal. Would recommend giving this spot a visit if you're in Istanbul.

This restaurant is a must when in Istanbul! The location is centered in the old city where you can feel the culture with every step you take down the road! The staff here are really friendly and even if you don't know Turkish, just point to the pictures on the menu and they'll take care of ya! The food comes out quickly! The meat is cooked really well and perfectly chewy. Get your own plate to yourself and enjoy the meat with the flat bread and veggies! You'll want to be back for more.

You know they take their kebabs seriously here because it's literally the only thing they have on their menu (in addition to some side dishes). We ordered the kebab and kebab wrap and I was mindblown by how good it was -- the meat literally melts in your mouth, with a perfectly charred exterior and tender/juicy interior...and literally no game-y taste at all from the lamb. Would definitely recommend getting the salad and yogurt as well so you can make your own wraps with the lavash it comes with. I was particularly blown away by the yogurt it was so good both on its own and as a condiment.

Before anything else this is not a kebab restaurant so don't come here if you want kebab. I know it has kebab in its name but it's really just gyro meat sliced and placed on skewers so if you expect different kinds of kebabs this is not it. I have no idea why it's so popular among tourists and why tourist rate this place so high. First the place is tiny and packed so you may have to go upstairs but it's still crowded. The service is alright but at least it's efficient. The menu is very small and once again they only have the gyro on skewers they call kebab but if you have had any other kebab you'll be disappointed. It doesn't taste bad but just not that good for anything more than 3 stars. Go to a real kebab restaurant in Turkey.

If I had to choose one restaurant I'm going to HIGHLY recommend in Istanbul, this is it. Truly 5 stars across all boards. You'll find this 100% local-type restaurant on a very busy street surrounded by tons of people and liveliness. We were seated immediately; you may need to share a table if you sit outside, which captures the community-type feel of this restaurant. However, there is seating indoors as well. The servers were so kind and attentive throughout our entire meal. The menu is limited, yet they've mastered everything served. It's very straightforward -- you know EXACTLY what you're going to get and it is absolutely delicious. The prices are also very affordable. We ordered almost everything off the menu -- the soup, salad, yogurt, cag kebab, and the cag kebab wrap. AND, we ordered seconds. It's definitely crucial to order at least 1 order of the yogurt per pair of people in your party because it's paired so well with the kebab and honestly just by itself as well. We had such a great experience, with much of it due to the the quality of the food and the amazing service. I plan on coming back to eat here ASAP!!!!

Very good cag kebab! For those who haven't tried, cag kebab refers to kebab preparation where there is layered lamb meat and fat roasting on a horizontal spit. The portions are apparently smaller, likely as the meat is far more pricey. We started off with a lentil soup, which was slightly gritty and not super seasoned / salty. We ordered two portions of the cag, which came with white onions and some tomatoes. To amp up the flavour, we also got a spicy tomato dip - which was very good and complimented the lamb perfectly! The cag was indeed quite small; there were two small skewers and two thin pieces of lavash. It was very gamey and delicious! You could taste the char and flavour. As it wasn't a big portion, we were able to try other things after, but do be warned... it isn't cheap for its size. They also charge 5 EUR for water (served in sealed transparent plastic cups)

Amazing lamb kebobs! Tender, flavorful meat with with a lightly charred exterior and wonderful accoutrements. This busy, non-stop place is must stop in the old city!

If you're a fan of lamb, this is a must-try! The food is fantastic. Make sure to get a few orders as they only serve one item on the menu. Also, keep in mind that they'll bring you all the sides, which you'll be charged for at the end. Was throughly happy with the food though.

This place is fantastic! A hidden gem for sure. They offer a very limited menu with around 6 items (2 of which are mains, the rest of which are sides). While this may seem as being a limitation I truly believe the chefs have mastered the kabaps here. Truly delicious and a great Smokey flavor The surroundings are busy, and at times can get busy depending on when you come. At peak hours it is not uncommon to share tables with others which can lead to some good opportunities to make new friends! The servers are attentive and friendly. They also are very quick in service. Definitely worth a stop here if you're in Istanbul!

Restaurant basically only has 1 thing on the menu so you know it has to be good! Really juicy and tasty lamb! Super fast service.

The original home of the lamb kebab. Watch the master build the kebab and then enjoy this flavorful, tasty sandwich.

With just six items on the menu Şehzade Cağ Kebap is nevertheless perpetually busy, the frenetic pace of nearby streets creating a scene quite unlike many while guests sit down to enjoy what many consider to be Istanbul's best Lamb Kebap. Serving Erzurum-style Lamb from a jumbo-size horizontal spit, the lengthy marinade assuring every bit is juicy save for crispy bits kissed by flame, additions include fiery peppers plus cooling Yogurt and sliced Onions intended to be eaten on paper-thin Lavash. Also offering crushed Tomatoes and Salad for 40 Lira, and housemade Soup for those in the mood, service is fast paced such that a meal lasts perhaps thirty minutes but that certainly isn't a reason to forgo stuffed Kadayif featuring Honey and Walnuts and a compelling texture.

When I arrived there was only one other customer inside. The restaurant decor was cute and I very comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming. This spot was a bit pricey just like most of the restaurants in this touristy area. I had certain Turkish entrees i wanted to try during my vacation. I ordered the Iskender kebab which is beef and pita bread covered with tomato sauce with yogurt on the side. I ordered a side salad to go with it. The dish was very delicious as you can tell in one of my pics. I chatted with some of the staff about life in Istanbul. I was offered some complimentary pomegranate tea before I left and it hit the spot. This is definitely a place to check out when you're in the area.

Prices are more reasonable, the decor is cute, modern, with a traditional take. It does help to see the lady making pies and baking pita bread from the outside window and a prep bar full of fresh ingredients- meats prepared for kebabs, fresh vegetables and mezze-s. It was never crowded, but they had just enough customers around to have a lively atmosphere. We sat at a lower table where you can sit on pillows on the floor for a genuine experience. We didn't know we had to take our shoes off upon entering the area and got a tad scolded, we weren't trying to be disrespectful. After a day of walking and exploring it was nice to take them off and sit comfortably on pillows. Staff is nice, some speak English, I also learnt a few basic words and expressions and it helped communication. We got fresh squeezed Pomegranate juice (they don't serve alcohol here), shared a mixed filling pie (minced beef, spinach, feta cheese) which was warm, delicious, made on the spot by the lady and also shared a beef kebab portion. Plenty of food, fresh, full of flavors, nicely cooked. We finished with a traditional Apple tea inspired by our French next table neighbors. We enjoyed the restaurant, the food, the comfort, the coziness so much that we came here for dinner the next 2 nights - don't laugh! We were eager to try other dishes we notices people around us ordered. Also it was close enough to our hotel. Next night we got their mezze-s - you have to try the platter, even veggies you might not like/love on the platter you will finish, they taste so good, nicely marinated and infused with various herbs. Don't love mushrooms, but how they prepared them, with dill on top, they were amazing! We got a bit swindled in getting the big Kofta kebab platter, but boy it was sooo good, that we ended up finish it since we shared everything! They also got us some fresh pita bread just made by the lady next to us! We tried their mixed juice of fresh squeezed orange and pomegranate, pretty good! Our third was had a simpler menu - feta cheese pie and chicken kebab, smaller portion. We liked the waiter we had that nice the best, nice, chatty, he recommended us a Turkish soda which was fun to try, their version of Sprite. Service is not fast, but attentive and we wanted a slower pace to take it all in. They accept credit cards as well! Nice atmosphere, fresh traditional food, great respite after a day of exploring. It was nice to sit on the comfy pillows, watch the street life, the food they were making, neighbor people from various countries, all in for the Turkish dinner experience!

First off, we sat for 20 minutes before anyone came up to us and we ordered 2 plates of urfa (no spicy) kebabs and a chicken shish kebab all of them with normal rice (the only one who really spoke English said they had rice but it would take about 10 minutes to make which we agreed to). The first round of dishes they brought to us was an urfa kebab and chicken wings; 1 right : 1 wrong. 10 minutes later the brought us 2 plates of kebab and we took what they told us was an urfa kebab, it was not but we kept it anyways because it didn't matter; 1 right : 3 wrong. Finally, after a total of us sitting there for over 40 minutes, our final and correct dish came. The overall service was very slow and very disorganized. We had to repeat our order multiple times to the guy who could speak English. The food was good but the overall service doesn't make it worth it since we spent an hour and a half at this place. A thing to note to anyone who wants to visit because of the floor tables, don't. We went during the summer when it was pretty hot and in order to sit at the floor tables you have to take your shoes off so after a while the place starts to smell of feet. Overall, if I ever went back to Turkey I would skip this place in favor for something else nearby. Okay food but bad service and a not so pleasant foot smell.

After a long intercontinental flight, I wanted a quick meal near the Blue Mosque and my prior research pointed me to this restaurant based on past positive reviews. As soon as I sat down and ordered my dish, I was greeted with a small basket of bread with garlic hummus dip. Initially, I suspected that this was a trick to tack on extra charge, but the waiter ensure that it's on the house! I tried the bread with the dip, and loved the softness of the bread and the garlic savory taste of the hummus dip. It was a good start to my first meal in Turkey - and to think that I used to dislike hummus in the US! Then my entree of Adana kebab arrived. Made from finely-grounded lamb meat, the Adana kebab was surprisingly filling and packed with flavors, even though it looked deceptively small-portioned and unremarkable. On the same plate, the included rice pilaf was another delicious surprise with subtle flavors and the salad vegetable was fresh and crisp. For about 30 TL, the dish was a delicious mini feast! When I asked for the bill, the waiter asked if I would like a cup of tea and knowing my suspicious nature, added that it's complimentary. At first I declined but as I was paying my bill, I noticed that everyone - locals and tourists - around me had a tulip-shaped cup of tea and it dawned upon me that tea was an important drink in Turkey (a fact that I verified later in my trip) so I changed my mind and requested for the tea. Even after I paid my bill, the waiter without hesitation brought me the complimentary tea to end my meal. Overall, the total charge was 36 TL, which included water and 10% service. While it's the typical cost of a meal especially in the Sultanhamet area, you certainly would get more food from the same price because of the complimentary bread, hummus, and tea. In addition, the meal here remains one of the best I had in Istanbul and is comparable to the authentic meal I had outside the tourist district, so I definitely recommend dining here when you need a nice sit-down meal in Sultanahmet.
