I came here for a wedding reception and had a very nice afternoon/evening…read more They had put our group of 15 people in a separate room towards the front of the building. Coffee and strawberry cake arrived promptly at 4 pm after everyone had sat down. I am not too much into sweets, but even I enjoyed the cake since it was really good. After we had finished, we moved to patio outside to enjoy the afternoon sun with some drinks and to take pictures while the restaurant staff cleaned the tables inside and started to prepare for our dinner later. Dinner was scheduled for 6.30 pm and turned out to be a 3-course affair. It started off with a beef bullion that was flavorful with just the right amount of salt. Very yummy. Next came an interim salad to hold us over until the next course arrived. The salad was made with different types of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and cabbage and had a very tasty, slightly garlicky dressing. Everyone had the choice between chicken, steak or fish for the main course. I ordered the rump steak (medium-rare) which came with homemade herb butter, their take on potatoe chips, green beans wrapped in bacon and a bit of salad. The steak was really good, although one could argue if it was really medium-rare or already medium - nonetheless it was quite tender with the juices still coming out and it went very well with the herb butter. The potatoe chips were also very good - they were nothing like chips at all, but more like freshly cut, thin and crispy potatoe wedges. I am usually not a fan of beans, but I really enjoyed these ones (bacon always helps, of course ;)). Dessert was vanilla ice cream with strawberries. It was OK, but nothing to write home about. The service was quite attentive and friendly in general. My only complaint would be my wine order. I asked for a glass of white wine and after they told me the available choices, I went with a Chardonnay. However, when the server returned, she told me that they did not have Chardonnay after all so they just brought me a glass of Grauburgunder instead. Although this wine is not exactly my favorite, I just went with it because I did not want to cause any trouble at our friend's wedding reception. Personally however, I feel this was really a no-go since you can't just swap one wine for another without at least asking the customer if that's OK. Makes me think that they might not know that there is a significant difference in taste between the different wines... but oh well. Other than that I enjoyed a good time with lovely food there and I would not mind returning for another meal.
