Wow! This place did not disappoint…read more From the attentive service, the great vibe and atmosphere, to the outstanding food...no wonder this place is always busy. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially if you have a bigger group. They have an extensive menu and can recommend the Schaufele and the Schmankerlpfanne (I know that's a mouthful)....it was definitely our best meal in Rothenburg. And be sure to try their selection of schnapps.

This restaurant features excellent traditional German food at very fair prices. There are only…read moreabout ten tables in the whole establishment, so the atmosphere is definitely cozy. The heavy wooden furniture and decoration add to this and give it plenty of Old World charm. The food is simply delicious and the menu is surprisingly broad for such a small place. Don't be intimidated by the Reserviert signs on all the tables - that's just to keep out the riff-raff. Simply ask the waitress (there's only one) if there's a table available and she'll be sure to seat you. Since it's a Weinstube, there's also a wide selection of local and foreigen wines available. If you need help, the waitress can make a recommendation.

I really liked the feel of this restaurant. The dark interior reminded me of a neighbourhood pub…read morewhile the patio out back was secluded and peaceful. Welcoming and attentive staff. The menu is standard biergarten food and drink. They had two alcohol free beers by the bottle in addition to regular. I got a Tucher Reifbräu alcohol free. It was okay - easy to drink but too light for my taste (I've had richer alcohol free beers so I know that's not it). Fun to try though. The dish I got was "Fried camembert with salads, cranberry, and bread". I think this would have been appropriate to share between two people if it were paired with an appetizer - the cheese was actually not as heavy as I expected, but it came with 6 slices of bread which was way too much for me. I was able to finish most of the cheese, half of the bread, and all of everything else. It was a really well-executed dish though! There were three different types of bread, all of which were great, the breading on the cheese was nice, and even the salad dressing was really good and went well with the cranberry. I think the prices on the menu are appropriate (lots of stuff in the €10-15 range) considering it's good quality food with hearty portions.

This review is not about the service. Sitting inside gave me a direct Birds Eye view into the kitchen... unfortunately. After ordering I had to watch the person in the kitchen, while preparing foods, eating and licking his fingers. It completely ruined my meal!! The taste wasn't bad at all but i was already too thrown off having to watch this the entire time i was there. I'm super bummed, my 20$ meal was left on the plate.
