Staff were all very nice and welcoming and spoke English which was very helpful. We sat inside and it was a bit warm (August and in the high 80s F) but it wasn't uncomfortable. This place was so good we went twice - this review is based on the first time we went. Would I go back? YES, and I did. Hahahaha

Augustiner Bräustuben was unfortunately one of the biggest disappointments of our Munich trip. I…read morereally wanted to love this place given its reputation, but the experience fell far short. We ordered the pork knuckle, pretzel with beer cheese, and beer. The pork knuckle arrived cold and lacked flavor, while the pretzel didn't seem particularly fresh either. The beer pour was especially disappointing--the amount of foam/head was ridiculous, and for a place associated with such a famous brewery, I expected a much better pour. The photos really speak for themselves. Service was the biggest issue. We repeatedly tried to get someone's attention to place our order, but the servers seemed to avoid eye contact and kept waiting for someone else to help us. Even getting the check was a struggle--we eventually had to get up and go to a counter ourselves. It felt like the staff had little interest in actually serving the customers. The atmosphere itself has the traditional Bavarian beer hall feel, but unfortunately, the poor food, disappointing beer pour, and especially the terrible service completely overshadowed it. I really wanted to like this place, but based on our experience, there are much better beer halls and beer gardens in Munich.

If you don't live out here, chances are you will never know about this place. However having a…read morefriend in a nearby village was key for me. We took an early drive through the mountains, through a one car width toll road, and then ended up in the secluded valley of Schönenbach No your cell phones dont work out here and folks that are here dont want to be found. However they have a lively pub that also sells really good food. One of the most traditional dishes of this area are Käsknöpfle, which are dumplings made with a combo of local Alpine cheeses, flour/water dough, and fried onions. Of course my friend knew all the good stuff, so we got a local sausage/cheese salad with vinaigrette, a few local cheeses, and we were set. Holy fuck was this good, and I had just eaten not too long ago. The vinaigrette was great with the salad, the local cheeses and the bread! I couldnt stop eating... So in the chance that you happen to be in the Alps bordering Switzerland and Germany in Austria, see if you can find this place. It's well worth it.

The next room to the right was half full, that is where we ended up having dinner. The room beyond that was empty. We later discovered that the kitchen closed at 10pm, so we missed out on dessert. We appeared to be the last to leave when they were closing up around 11pm. Everyone said goodbye. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area for the food, atmosphere, and wait staff.

My girlfriend and I decided to check this place out on our first night in Munich. We sat ourselves…read moreand waited for a waiter to bring us a menu. Our waiter was an older gentlemen who spoke very little English and made zero effort to help us with the menu. The menu was entirely in German and we had no service to translate anything so I just picked the Wienerschnitzel and my girlfriend ordered a vegetarian ravioli. Both dishes came out relatively fast and looked great. My schnitzel was very tasty and fresh while my girlfriends ravioli was extremely flavorful. We ordered the Oktoberfest beer since we couldn't really read or tell what the other beers were. The Oktoberfest beer was very light, almost like a coors light lol the weissbier is where it's at. Highly recommend getting the weissbier at any and all restaurants as it is the stronger and more flavorful selection. Later in the evening a younger girl asked us if we needed anything and spoke English, she also helped us with ordering other drinks and even called us a cab since we had no service to use Uber. I wish she was our original server and was a little annoyed he did not even ask her to help us in the first place. He also did not give me my change trying to take advantage of the fact that Americans tip, and in Germany the tip is included. I didn't want to make a big deal over 5 more euros but pretty rude. This would be the main reason for only 3 stars. Other than that it was a cool experience and beautiful beer garden for outside seating.
