I guess showing up for lunch around noon and being the only ones there was a hint. Two other people showed up after us and I did not notice any pickup/takeout going on. The service was low end. We received our appetizer and had to ask for a serving plate silverware/chop sticks. We started with an order of avocado spring rolls. The two spring rolls were sliced in thirds for a total of 6 pieces. A peanut sauce was served with the spring rolls. The peanut sauce was bland and after eating a piece of spring rolls I asked my husband if he saw any avocado. He said no. Of course the menu picture showed a spring roll with avocado slices across the top. I dissected the second and third roll bite and found the tiniest minced piece of avocado and very small pieces of chicken. So, there may have been more in the roll but all I could taste was noodles and crispy greens. I ordered a Thai tea with my meal. We got our main dish but no drink. I had to ask a second time for my tea. As there were only 4 patrons total in the restaurant it was hard to believe they forgot. When I did get my Thai tea with bubbles it was enjoyable. I had pho. There was scant meat in it. A couple meatball halves and very thin lunch meat beef slices. The flavor was ok/average as was the chicken pad Thai my husband had. Place was very quiet over the lunch hour, most likely because there were only four of us there. I thought it kind of weird that the second couple who came in were seated at the booth right behind us. With an empty restaurant they could have at least spaced us with an empty booth in between. If I lived in the area I might give them another try and try other menu items but we were passing thru and I would not go out of my way to come back.

This is yet another restaurant in that list. I ordered the combo pho, which was chocked full of meat. The broth was delicious which, face it, is the main attraction in pho. The accompanying plate had 2 fat wedges is lime, a nice Asian basil stalk and a pile of super fresh bean sprouts. My husband ordered pad thai, which I reminded him wasn't Hmong. It was, however, better than I have had in some Thai restaurants. Perfectly sweet from tamarind. Decent amount of shrimp, albeit kind of small. Also piled high with fresh bean sprouts. It lacked the traditional chopped peanuts and we did miss that. 1/2 star off for that We had pork egg rolls which were good, and the spicy sauce they provided was just the right amount of kick. I ordered one of their Laotian sausages which were uniquely spiced and not as funky as some Chinese sausages I've had. Took that home to cook with. For dessert we ordered one yellow yam-filled sesame ball and one purple yam-filled. I love sesame balls; chewy, lightly sweet, crunchy outside, sesame flavor. These were the best I ever had... And big. Lastly was the Thai tea boba. It wasn't a great flavor. I mean it didn't taste like the traditional jasmine tea and sweetened condensed milk. Interestingly, we had the exact same flavored Thai tea in a Chicago-area buffet recently. I think these places are buying a boba "system" and their version is Thai iced tea is sucky. It is a charming and well stocked wine-focused store, with a restaurant to boot. I have come for both lunch and also the much sought-after wine tastings, which are very fun and delicious. The knowledge that the staff exude is exemplary, especially for the Wausau area. From unique varieties, preparations, vineyards, and grapes to many more criterion way over my head, they have you covered. Our most recent experience was a wine pairing event. In this format, there was a charcuterie board with different ingredients intended to be paired with different types of wines. There were also plates served as well - soups, salads, and sandwiches - that were all delicious (most are available on their main lunch menu as well). It was very interesting and classy. Their sommelier explained the differences between the numerous wine samples, how to serve them, how to pair them with food, and we enjoyed the entire event. Their wine selection is incredible, with options for every taste and budget. I will definitely be back to find a bottle for a special occasion. I encourage you to check this gem out - cheers!
