Instead of tall, luxurious plants full of rich green foliage, they have planted little plants which are lost among the dirt. These strips of garden need to be filled in with bold plants. In the garden which runs along the side of the greenhouse, they have weeds planted; including one which my parents had hidden in their lawn and which hurts like hades when you step on it. I didn't find many of the outside plants to be at all exotic. I paid the 3 Euros and went into the greenhouse. There were some unique plants which I had never seen; however, even the cactus was resplendent with a variety of which I had a small one from the garden show as a child. Many of the plants in the greenhouse are species which I have seen in people's outside gardens in the U.S. and in Germany. The 3 large greenhouse rooms are large, yet there were really no botanical surprises. Outside was mediocre run of the mill gardening with which I was far from impressed. But don't be afraid. There's no street with a lot of traffic. In contrast, it is quite silent and romantic. I recommend you to admire the different kinds of flowers and plants. They are said to be imported from countries all over the world. Apart of taking long walks, it's quite fun sitting on a bank observing the walkers or the playing children. If you like drinking a cup of tea or coffee, there're various coffee shops. Of course, you shouldn't forget to taste the Alsatian specialities.

It is at an elevation, like on the hill. I went up using a lot of stairs but the other direction offers a gradual incline without stairs. I'm glad I brought water. You enter through a gate. The garden is maintained by a local community group and closes at night. There is a small lake and I even saw a little turtle by the water. There is an indoor structure but it was locked when I visited. You can walk around and see the ambiance and there is an upper part with a view of the city. There were two people making out when I walked up to see the view. So that's pleasant. This garden is a nice place to take a break in the city and look at the view over the city. There's not much shade except for under the outdoor structure. If you want to sit there are mostly rocks. I recommend a visit if you want a peaceful, not often visited break from the hustle of Stuttgart.

We were drawn to this garden especially by the annual Pumpkin Exhibition. Our experience of the Annual Pumpkin Exhibition was excellent. I wrote a separate review on it earlier. Although we heard about certain limitations especially the number of visitors to Blühenden Barock being restricted due to coronavirus health precaution regulations, besides mask wearing requirements at the ticket office, food vendors ordering lines, shops, bathrooms, etc., we didn't feel there was not much limits being the outdoor venue. That could've been because folks were really tired of being restricted... Keeping 2m distance between family units were also requested. It was recommended to visit either on the weekdays or early morning during weekends to increase your chances of avoiding a long wait. It was also recommended to purchase your ticket(s) online to secure your spot, but when I tried to do so, purchase function was not working. I figured it wasn't too crowded to limit the ticket sales since it was getting very cool outside. The fairy tale garden is open during the season from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and with the changeover to winter time on the last weekend in October, the opening time of the fairy tale garden will change from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until the end of the season. The Friedrichsgarten and Mathildengarten are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, these gardens can be closed for a few days as part of the construction and implementation of events. After the changeover to winter time, the closing time is at 5 p.m. The Sardinian garden with bird aviary is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. After the change to winter time, the Sardinian garden will be closed at 5 p.m. Dogs are not permitted in the aviary. This garden offers great activities for young and old. It definitely worth your money and time.

An unexpected, beautiful and multi-faceted garden in the middle of Gernsbach, on the bank of the…read moreMurg River. I was very pleasantly surprised as I entered the Katz'sche Garten. The grounds are relatively compact; yet replete with a varied array of flowering plants and trees tantalizing the senses. The well thought out, eclectic concept comprises 6 or 7 themes within the enclosed space. As I passed through the wrought iron gates, I was greeted by the formal garden, reminiscent of the grounds at Versailles. Other floral and arboreal highlights include the formal English garden as well as an example of classic Greek architecture, a picturesque view of the banks of the Murg River and the tropical border. On the sunny, warm, spring day of my visit, I was fortunate to meet the man responsible for creating and maintaining today's collection of thriving, luscious greenery. Under his capable and accomplished management, he has integrated artifacts from all over Southern Germany which enhance the unique botanical atmosphere. All in all, the Katz'sche Garten is a delightful warm weather gem, not to be missed in the Northern Black Forest area. I am confident that I will visit the Garden often in the coming months as a feast for the eyes and haven of peaceful enjoyment and refuge.
