I love that Shays Shoes has been around for so long and is still selling many of the brands that they sold back in the 70s. They still sell a big range range of Dr. Martens, Birkenstocks, and Hush Puppies. Maybe one of the reasons that Shays Shoes has been around for so long is that they manage to cater for everyone. Whether you're a youth wanting a pair of floral-patterned docs, a Mum wanting some Birkenstocks, or a Grandma after some comfy Hush Puppies, Shays has always been the place to find a treat for your feet. They have a large range of decorative flats, which I really like. Despite the fact the I am fairly short, I still much prefer flats to heels. There are sensible, strappy and sparkly flats, heaps to choose from and most have at least 3 or so colours to pick from. I have always found the staff to be friendly but not pushy. It can be fine line sometimes. Parking at Portside is almost always easy in the undercover area, except when there is a cruise ship docked, then you might run into trouble.

However, I'm really disappointed in the quality of the boots themselves. This is probably my 7th pair of Docs and my 3rd pair of Jadon Max boots, so I'm very familiar with the brand and what to expect. However, this is my first pair of the vegan version, and the quality just doesn't compare to my previous pairs. I've only had them for around 8 months and don't wear them every day, yet the sole has already developed a large horizontal crack (around 10cm long). It's quite significant, and it honestly feels like it's only a matter of time before the entire sole rips off. For the price, I expected them to last much longer, so unfortunately I don't feel the quality matches the cost.

Reminds me of that shop in the city called Essensuals, but the staff here are friendlier and there aren't the 100000 signs saying BREAKAGES MUST BE PAID FOR so that adds a nice welcoming touch. There's food, drinks, movies, food, drinks, clothes, mobile phones, banks, etc, etc, etc. The current construction is a bit annoying, but it's hard to knock improvements being made. The result is a bit of a bottleneck with the huge crowds walking around on weekends. This is a problem when you walk faster than basically any other human in existence and are incredibly impatient. So, it's probably more of a problem just for people like me, which thankfully, I don't believe can be found in abundance. I like that there is often music and the people watching is tremendous.
