I hope this email finds YOU doing well. I am currently at the Canby library. I am so sad and feeling humiliated by the manner I was treated at your church tonight. A person told me that you offered meals, so I went to your church. First, I am thankful for 'anything' that I am offered. Very thankful. It is so hard and painful for me to ask for anything. I am hungry, unemployed (but looking), alone, no income, and I do not have any resources. First, I got a tray and meal. I noticed that the people in front of me had, literally, twice the food on their plates. The people serving were very nice to them. My plate did not even have any tater tot topping, but the people in front of me, and behind me, were treated like royalty. Is this enough, do you want more, etc, etc. Second, I sat my plate down, got some potatoes and dumplings, and then I went to ask the woman at the sweets (cookies) table what was the healthiest (as I try to avoid sweets for various reasons). As soon as I got to the table the woman said to me "haven't you been here once already ?" I was shocked, I said "no, do you need to check me bag. I just sat down. I have never been to this church before." So, I immediately turned around and sat down. Many times while I was eating I heard this woman talking to others, stating; would you like to try these, do you want more, etc, etc. So, please explain to me why I was treated like this. If your church only helps non-Caucasians, then please tell people so they are not treated so poorly. As I sat down and watched how you gave others bags of food, multiple plates of food, and asked them if they wanted more, NOT one person asked me if I needed more, if I needed something. Instead I left without a cookie because your server made me look and feel so humiliated with other people looking and listening. How dare you say that you are a Christian Church. Again, if you only help one nationality or race, please let others know so that we do not suffer such humiliation at your hands. I say this because I could not otherwise see any difference in the manner in which I was treated. When I went to my van, to cry. I noticed the people in front of me had several bags of food, several FULL take out containers. They entered a brand new Mercedes SUV, and were telling their children that they would go to McDonald's because the kids did not want the food you served. I wanted the food, but I did not get it. I came there out of necessity, was treated in a degrading and humiliating manner, disparately and different from those around me. Yet you feed those that have money, jobs, housing, and literally do not want the food they get. Please let the woman who was at the sweets table know that her conduct toward me was not appreciated. I have NEVER been at the table, have not had a cookie "already", and that her bias and prejudice behavior towards me has made me sick to my stomach.
