A misstep on one of the trail's narrow hill sections could easily lead to a bad fall. Most amazing for me was the total lack of wildlife. I live in a Louisville suburb of 1/4 and 1/2 acre lots. Squirrels and birds abound, including hawks. We see deer regularly and occasionally see a fox or a coyote. On this Red Trail hike I rarely heard a bird (didn't see any). No squirrels, no nothing. Why? Is all of Jefferson Forest so devoid of creature life?

We thought that meant that you'd be exploring and ziplining all through the cavern, but no. It's a ropes course, and the course is pretty small, and you're not really going into the cavern, which is a bummer. They do have a separate zipline tour, which is maybe more adventurous, but I wouldn't know because we didn't do that one. The ropes course is for ages 5 and older. Louisville Mega Cavern also offers a walking cavern tour and a tram tour, plus a drive-through Christmas lights display around the holidays. Be sure to book your activities in advance! This place is very popular and gets very busy. One thing to note is that outside food and drink are supposedly not allowed. (Oops, my bad. I didn't find that out until I had finished my tasty little tuna-and-crackers snack.) They also have lockers to put your things in if you don't have someone hanging back at the tables to hold your stuff.

The trainers and staff have treated us like family from the beginning and we have recently begun boarding or own leased horse there and have had such an amazing experience. My children are taught how to care for and protect these amazing animals while also learning the ins and out of farm life. Fred is always honest and kind and I so appreciate his investment not only in the community but in my family aswell!

The whole facility located next to the local police station features baseball fields, full court basketball courts, tennis courts, a public swimming pool, a spray ground and a spacious and shaded playground. When I was younger in my early to late teens I'd come up here and play some full court outdoor basketball as there aren't too many places in that area that offer the ability to play full court. As I've gotten older I've taken my kids to the nice playground when In the area for practices and events for the kiddos. Overall it's a nice and fun community park with lots to offer.

So treat it like you would someone's house who has cool holiday lights. Stop and appreciate it but respect the private property of the owners and neighbors. The personal property has a side yard that features a massive and fun looking McDonald's themed playground. Featuring all the lovable McDonald's characters of 80's and 90's lore Thai playground gives me throwback feels for sure. Spread across some beautiful Landscaping I am curious the backstory to this playground. Former owner or high ranking employee perhaps, crafty person who just a fan? Either way it is super cool and one of them row unique roadside sights in the city. I'm curious how often the playground is used. I'm pretty sure it isn't even rented out for public parties but if it were I'd have to inquire on pricing and availability. My kids for years have marveled at This sight and have wished out Loud how fun it could be. Overall a cool and fun sight to see for someone driving around the city who likes to see unique things.

There is a decently sized parking lot. There are trail options going up to 13 miles, but also as short as you care to make it. The trails aren't terribly difficult. The trails are clear and well-maintained. Just watch out for horse poop....the trails are hiking and horseback riding shared. The trails are also well- and clearly marked. Be smarter than me and remember to use bug spray/repellent during their seasons....chiggers, when they are active, are NO JOKE *scratchscratch* I am a fan. You could be too. If you like hiking, that is....

It's very basic now - a couple picnic tables and new trails. The Coral Ridge Loop is rated moderate, but I find it very easy. It's a great trail for all skill levels! The trail is shaded and very wide, so you don't have to worry about ticks as much in the summer. Occasionally you might pass someone on a horse - so be careful and watch where you step.
