The Law Offices of James L. Arrasmith

The Law Offices of James L. Arrasmith

I hired The Law Offices of James A. Arrasmith to help with a security deposit dispute with a former…read morelandlord. Initially, things went very well. They quickly scheduled me for a consultation with Michael, who made me feel heard and reassured. After I signed a retainer agreement, they moved promptly to gather information about my case and draft a demand letter. However, communication broke down after that. I never received confirmation that the letter had been sent. When the response deadline passed, I reached out for an update and waited about a week for a reply. I was told they had modified the response deadline (apparently because the letter hadn't gone out as planned) and to give it more time. When the new deadline passed, I again had to reach out for updates. I was told they hadn't heard back from my landlord and would try emailing the letter. Once again, I didn't hear anything further until I followed up myself. They suggested waiting another week and then possibly filing if there was still no response. When I asked, multiple times, to discuss what filing would involve, I didn't receive a response. After two weeks without communication, I decided to end my representation, as I was concerned they wouldn't be proactive or responsive enough to resolve the matter effectively. I do appreciate that they produced a well-written demand letter and that Mr. Arrasmith personally reviewed it. My final invoice also showed a recommendation to proceed with filing, though that was never actually communicated to me. The next lawyer I hired brought things to a conclusion very quickly, but I feel like the money I spent with Mr. Arrasmith was wasted because that lawyer had to repeat a lot of the same work and draft a new demand letter. Overall, I felt I had to do the follow-up work myself to keep the case moving, and their lack of communication ultimately made me lose trust in their services.

I should not have to write this review, because in my opinion, formed from direct experience, this…read morefirm should not be operating at all. I retained this firm for a single, clearly defined purpose: to represent my disabled minor son in an already active civil case that I had fully prepared and filed myself. This was not a complex intake. The case was organized, documented, and ready to proceed. Their role was limited--appear on behalf of the minor when required and ensure his legal interests were protected. Instead, the opposite occurred. The moment the court ordered counsel to appear for my son, the firm effectively abandoned the case. There was no meaningful advocacy, no substantive participation, and no protection of the minor's interests at a critical stage of litigation. This has now placed the case in jeopardy. Over the course of less than three months, the firm cycled through three different attorneys. There was no continuity, no accountability, and no communication sufficient to justify what followed. Despite this, I was billed approximately $4,500 for what amounts to little more than administrative filings--specifically, two forms that I personally prepared and filed. To be clear, the only reason I retained this firm was because the law requires a licensed attorney to represent a minor. That is not a formality--it carries a heightened duty of care, especially when the client is a disabled child who cannot advocate for himself. That duty matters. It exists to ensure that a child's rights, safety, and future are protected at every stage of a case. In this situation, that duty was not met. What should have been careful, consistent representation instead felt like indifference at a time when it mattered most. My son depended on this firm to show up for him in a meaningful way, and that did not happen. The lack of continuity, the lack of communication, and the lack of actual advocacy are not just procedural issues--they have real consequences for a child who has already been through more than he should have to endure. From both a professional and ethical standpoint, the handling of this matter raises serious concerns. Families seeking representation--especially for vulnerable individuals--should not proceed under any circumstances. If you have had a similar experience with this firm, I welcome you to reach out: [k_aranzasu@facilitationwithheart.com] Hurting an adult is one thing, but a disabled child?

Christie Mitchell Law Office - State Bar Disciplinary Action.

Christi really was my God send because of a toxic ex and fully narcissistic personality. My ex was…read morea vexatious litigator and constantly filing ex parte hearings over child custody issues. I can literally write several books about her manic episodes in court. Christie recognized the fact that my ex was clearly attempting to run my legal fees up just to break my bank. Fortunately for me, Christi was able to convince the judge of her malicious intent and in fact when it was said and done she was ordered to pay my legal cost's which is very rare especially in a Sacramento family court. Christi was able to convince a judge to order an independent lawyer be assigned to represent my minor son at the time so that his voice could be heard in a very revealing way about his wishes and how he felt he was being used by the system. Christi was always very responsive and even set a court precedence in the State Supreme Court. I very highly recommend Christi Mitchelle TAB

She was attentive, responsive and really fought for me in my never ending custody battle and even gave sound advice even when I stayed out of court with my youngest son's dad threatened to take him from me. Leah managed to get me from a horrible custody arrangement for my oldest where I was driving to meet my ex twice/ day to sole custody (rightfully won). It took us a few years but it was accomplished thanks to her staying on top of things, ensuring to enlighten the court of the other parties lack of interest in our child's well being and development. Leah fought harder for me than anyone ever has and l am eternally grateful for her making all these things happen. She is strong minded, grounded, quick as a whip, a shark in the courtroom, personable and an overall amazing lawyer. Thank you, Leah for all you've done for my family.

No matter what came up or how the opposing council talked (lied) about us, she always kept her cool and acted very professionally. I would recommend her to anyone going through a divorce or child custody. Her passion, temperament, professionalism and talent are worth every penny spent! She made this situation bearable, and I thank her for that. I would be remiss if I didn't mention her office manager Jennifer Hand, she has her stuff together as well. Together they make an unbeatable team.
