I've been practicing Yoga with Meena for the last 1-1/2 years, taking one class a week. Meena is a…read morevery good teacher. I've taken both the "Fundamentals of Yoga" and "Endurance, Strength, Flexibility" classes. This is the first "real" yoga that I did (class with community rec was not so good), and although I'm still not too widely traveled, I know I happened to find a great teacher here in Milford. Class size is small, usually around 10 people, at the most perhaps 20. The studio is in Meena's basement and the ceiling is a little low for me (I'm 6'2"), it's not a big problem. I've not been to any of the daytime classes, only weeknights and workshops on the weekends. I have kept coming back for more sessions and plan to continue. If you're serious about practicing yoga, I think you will appreciate the classes. Also don't think you have to be in great shape or experienced. I started knowing almost nothing of yoga, and now I feel like I have come so far, but still have lots to learn. In this review I haven't explained why I think Meena is such a good teacher, it's hard because there are so many different things, atmosphere, variety, meaning, ... if you come to a class I think you will find out.

I was a bit hesitant but my MD encouraged me to use MBSR to help alleviate some persistent pain issues I've experienced for years. Rather than medication, a mindful approach may help make me feel better. I finished the class in March and here it is in May and my life has changed for the better. MBSR can't accomplish miracles but it has given me a beautiful approach to enjoy life, alleviate issues, and look at pain, people, and the need to be "busy and productive" in a different way. Brenda is a warm, sensitive, thoughtful, and practiced person with a gentle approach to leading you through the eight weeks of MBSR. As she's working, I can feel energy shifting and I can get into a wonderful relaxed state of just being and not thinking. For someone who lives in their head all the time, it's a delightful feeling. You have the choice to have her say what's she's sensing or not but I love to hear what's she's sensing, as it's so accurate and to me, it helps me change to terms with my feelings or know what to focus on in the coming weeks. The best part is, after every cleanse, I feel lighter and more connected, even after some very heavy work that may bring up an array of emotions: when I leave, I feel like the sun is shining brighter and all my favorite songs are on the radio. And that feeling stays with me for several days to weeks after. The three session pack is a great deal for the amount of healing you get and it's very flexible: you could use these monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, etc depending on your needs. I'm putting Reiki healing with Claire up there with getting massages or seeing a chiropractor: go when you need it but also when you don't to prevent needing it.
