The most laughable evening out during our recent honeymoon visit to Paris. A quick search revealed…read morea potentially good show of an American female R & B singer; best of mediocre choices on a Wednesday evening. In fact, she and her band were great for the one set my wife and I stayed around for. Going in I knew there'd be a hefty cover charge of 27€, or about $38. Okay fine--I'm in Paris so what the heck. We went in to discover the room was split in two with drinkers not watching the show occupying about three-quarters of the space. After indicating we wanted to watch the show we we ushered to some surprisingly good seats near the front, even though the stage was empty as the first set was over. We were quickly given menus where I discovered ALL drinks cost 27€. Even the soft drinks! But they gave us a 'break' by discounting the second drink by 50% to ONLY 13.50€. Such a deal! Okay, again I thought, it's Paris. Our wait to order drinks began. 15 minutes later the band returned and played three numbers very well. No server in sight. The featured singer came out and belted out more tunes well. No sign of the server. Suddenly drinks were placed on our table, and then unceremoniously yanked away. Oops, wrong table. Still no approach by the server, though she was scurrying around elsewhere in the room. After 45 minutes or so the set ended. Pretty good, but our mouths were dry and patience used up. We got up and walked out. Not a peep from anyone. C'est la vie! Not worth finding, this place. Look elsewhere.

Too touristy but did hear great live jazz from the USA. The venue is okay, waitstaff nice but…read morepainfully slow. Food--well for Paris mediocre. But for the money if you LOVE jazz then you can arrive at 9:30 and stay for the night until 1:00 am which is a bonus compared to the jazz clubs in NYC for example. Next time I'll look for more local talent and not so touristy.

This was an impressive medieval castle built by the English, led by Richard the Lionheart, in 1198 and overtaken by the French in a siege in 1204. The 30 minute hike up the hill to the strategic as well as scenic overlook was a great way to get some countryside fresh air as well as your fitness steps for the day. The state of the art castle was built in only 2 years. There's a lot of medieval history to be taken in here, and we were nicely treated to a 45 minute video documentary on the place before our arrival and that certainly enhanced the visit.

There is a very scenic riverwalk along the one side of the town, which we strolled down at the start of our shopping adventure. We did experience a quick downpour, so we ran into the town church to get out of the rain. It's a beautiful, beautiful, quaint little church, with nice stained glass windows. Would highly recommend a peek inside if you're at that end of the town. The town itself is very small, but it had several very unique antique shops, and various boutiques where I picked up scarves and purses, and other mementos. One in particular, right near the hotel, virtually everything was hand sewn by the owner. Lots of great linens and other items to choose from. I bought several gifts for friends back home, along with sachets and other items. This was probably my most favorite little shopping adventure on our entire river cruise. My fiancé and son trooped all the way up to the ruin in the pouring rain, but they thought it was a great opportunity to see the views and do some exploring. We really enjoyed our afternoon in this little town and would highly recommend it!
