I would give zero stars if I could. Since when did a full body (prenatal) massage mean just your right shoulder and upper right side of back. I asked for him to move on but the masseuse could not understand me. They offered me a free 15 minutes and in my opinion was not enough time to cover the rest of my body. When I asked if I could pay half price since only a quarter of my body was touch the owners would only allow $5 off. I will not be going back and would not recommend this place to anyone. Zen Spa was recommended to me by my roommate who states that she's been there over 25x, so I decided to check it out. I like the fact that they stay open till 9pm. Which I think is good for those who don't get off till 5pm or after that, so if you've had a rough day at work you are still able to get a massage. My appointment was at 7pm and was acknowledged by 7:05, so the wait time wasn't bad. I was scheduled for the 60min combo which included 30mins body 30 mins foot that was supposed to be $45, however after my massage I was met with a different price and service which was the 60 min body for $55. When I address the issue I was met with "sorry" but nothing was rectified or adjusted. I'm not sure if that was intentional or a honest mistake but I felt that if my appointment was made for a particular service that I shouldn't have been charged additional for their "error". Needless to say nothing was adjust and I ended up just paying for whatever they charged. Also, if you are not a tipper then this place isn't for you. They have a sign for the recommended "tip % per service given" and if you don't give the recommended tip you surely would get a ugly stare. I only say because my roommate didn't get the recommended tip and the lady who checked her out smacked her lip and sucked her teeth at her. Talk about customer service smh. Anyways, if you are looking for a quite zen type of massage then this isn't really the place to go, although the price is decent, you could practically hear other customer's conversation. Fairly busy on weekends. But price vrs quality is right there. I usually get a full hour body massage and they charge $55 for it. It includes hot stone plus I ask for deep tissue since I'm busted. Depending on your comfortability I highly recommend. The only reason why I don't put 5 stars. You don't always get to choose what gender gives you the massage. I received a gift certificate to this place for Mother's Day. I called ahead and was able to schedule a same day appointment since I was getting a 90 minute service. I got the 30 minute foot massage and the 60 minute body massage. Both were great and relaxing however the pressure on the back was a little too much but I was never asked about the pressure. There definitely was a language barrier as the gentleman that I had did not speak English. I was still pleased with the service but maybe have someone go over everything if language is an issue. I was there for a 40 mins massage. I didn't get a good service. He left twice & spend like 5 minutes each time. I could hear talking with the other staff. It was a older heavy man. When I paid I gave him 5.00 tip & he told really just 5.00. I paid cash he had to give me 10.00 we Jen I h to old him to give 5.00 & off him to keep 5.00 he really didn't want to give the 5.00. I booked a full body massage with Zen Spa a few weeks ago and it was probably the worst massage of my life. The man massaging my back used his forearm and slid it up and down most of the time which felt like .... nothing. He kept leaving the massage area to go work the front desk and left me staring at the floor waiting. And then he had the audacity to LITERALLY chase me down and hold a piece of paper in front of my face pointing at the word "TIP" written across the top. I handed him all the cash I had which amounted to about $10.00. He grabbed it and walked away. I 100% believe in tipping well. And if I receive amazing service I will tip at 50% gratuity. My minimum tip for average service is usually 20%-30%. This place was the worst service I have ever experienced. I will never patronize this place again. When I entered, it smelled strongly of smoke. I inquired if someone was smoking in the building so the front desk staff went to check and retuned to apologize that the staff smoked outside with the door open resulting in the strong smell. After making an appointment for 6, we waited in the smoke-filled waiting room until almost 7 because they double booked the room...defeating the purpose of making appointments in the first place. I prefer to keep my bra on during massages for better breast comfort and support. My masseuse unclamped and abruptly guided my arm through the straps to take off 'because oil'. Because of the language barrier, I wasn't able to explain my preference sufficiently and so she doffed my bra against my wishes. They left the room an absurd number of times and each time would leave our door open to the hallway. Needless to say I won't be returning and don't recommend you do either. WATCH WHAT YOU ARE CHARGED!! I've gone here many times over the years. Massages themselves are usually pretty good depending on the person you get. I'd give more stars EXCEPT I went last night and said to add a $10 tip to my credit card transaction for a $40 massage. when I got the receipt he added $15. It took about 5 min for him to admit he made a mistake and he gave me my money back. This is NOT the first time this happened. A few months ago they doubled the cost of a massage and rather than give the $ back they gave a gift certificate. So they still got the money....I think they know what they are doing. read more
