Think water front, think relaxed, think good food and good wine, you're imagining one of Sydney's hidden secrets - Savichees.
This Modern Australian restaurant is situated in a prime location in Sydney. On the waters edge in one of the prettier parts of the city, Pyrmont, it is definitely a place you need to visit if you are in town.
Savichees is owned by a crazy red head and true blue Aussie named Craig and his red head mother Lorraine. Together, they are great and dynamic mother and son team and one of the them will always be there to greet and serve you.
Craig is a undoubtedly a food and wine connoisseur and restaurateur. He has successfully run many restaurants over the years. I first met him when he was running the restaurant in the pub up the road, but then he left and moved out to another suburb. I was really happy when I found out he had moved back into my hood, because I knew he would be serving good food.
Craig's expertise primarily lies in matching and serving good food with good wines. Craig runs a tight ship so the staff are always on their toes and both he and his mother are working just as hard as they are running the show.
Craig is also a top sales man! He will make you feel laugh so much and keep you entertained that you when he says to you "Another one Mel?" you just nod your head with a smile on your face - but wait the bill! I have to say it can get a little pricey simply because Craig's jokes are funny and the tranquil water views are so relaxing you won't want to leave so you will continue to order drinks, well I do anyway. I have sat at Savichees for many hours on many occasions.
The menu however, is quite reasonably priced, it's worth it and it has a great variety of dishes. The chefs are good and the food is good.
Savichees have a great range of wine and beer and I love the fact that Craig supports local boutique beer and wine suppliers. The wine and beer are both good.
They also serve good Campos coffee and they have a diverse and delicious breakfast menu. I have tried most of the breakfasts - Yum, I'm hungry now.
There is nothing better than eating whilst gazing at the water. Your mind just feels completely at ease and Sydney Harbour is the best in the world.
There is indoor seating but everyone wants to sit outside, thankfully they have recently erected a Marquee, so you can water gaze to your hearts content.
Families are more than welcome.
Tourists, you have to head on over to Savichees even if it is just to meet Craig, he will make your holiday completely "Australian".
Locals, if you have not been to Savichees I suggest you try it, when you get to the water you will feel what I am describing, if you get a sunny day I guarantee you will stay for breakfast and lunch.
A Savichee is a "Raw fish marinated in lime or lemon juice with olive oil and spices and served as an appetizer" correctly spelt "Ceviche". You can try this, it is on the menu - divine.
I've learnt alot about food, wine and beer since dining at Savichees.
Try Savichees you will not be disappointed. If you do, tell Craig that Mel sent you. read more
