Hired MacFarland after being impressed with the gentleman who did our quote and wanted to work with…read morethe largest/most experienced company of 3 quotes we received. Communication with the office was lacking the entire time and only one person out of 3 that I spoke to at the office was cordial and informative. We lost out on $200 that we paid for lodging (our choice obviously to get loding) for ourselves and dogs to be out of the house w fumes/out of the way of painters only to find out the morning of the 2nd day of the job that painters weren't coming that day and we could have stayed home. We had to ask repeatedly for a correct invoice, since we did not move forward w several items we had asked for quotes on. Finally received one, one business day after the work was done (I had already paid a hefty deposit) just to almost immediately receive an email reminder that the invoice was 4 days overdue!? When the work was "done" we came home to find the house a mess. Sanding dust? everywhere including stuck in wood floors and on furniture that had not been covered as promised. Multiple paint spots on our kitchen counters and wood floors, door frame, sink, dishwasher, tiny spots on the carpet and even tiny spots on our back deck!  Really takes the excitement out of new paint when you come home to a mess. I made the office aware of this via email and put in my email that I'd appreciate a phone call to discuss my dissatisfaction. I was able to clean up all of the paint myself from the counters and floors (after having a heart attack that there was paint on my white countertops and wood floors!!) and one of the painters did call and adl to come by to clean it off the kitchen sink and dishwasher. They couldn't get it off the door frame, however. Four days later and Im STILL finding paint spots and smears on my wood floors!! Phone call from the office never came. Email with corrected invoice mentioned a "system glitch" but no mention of my request for a phone call or apology for dissatisfaction. No mention that a painter would contact me to come out. No follow up to ensure it's been fixed to my satisfaction now. I am shocked to spend this kind of money with what I thought was a reputable company, and have this obvious lack of interest in customer satisfaction. The paint on walls and ceilings looks great. Carpentry on cabinets looks great. Paint on most cabinets looks good. Paint on my wood floors, trim, back door, smeared along floor by cabinets, carpet, hallway, appliances, back deck!? Unacceptable for the thousands of dollars spent on a 4 day job. This combined with lack of communication and lack of interest in my customer experience is unacceptable. Would not recommend this company.

We hired this company to paint our aluminum siding and replace some of the facia boards. The…read moresalesman came out showed me which boards needed replacing, talked to me about our gutters needing to be removed in front of the garage so they could get to a couple of them then replaced the gutters. And my wife kept telling him we wanted to match the color of our garage door. They sent us to Sherwin Williams to pick out our own paint, no help at all choosing the color. So we pick the paint we think looks pretty close to our garage door and went with that. As you can imagine a little 2" square of paint does not give you a very good idea of what half the house will look like when painted plus it was outdoor paint so I'm not sure if that does anything to darken the color or not. Doesn't matter we were still satisfied with the color and the way the house looked by were not happy that the garage door wasn't the same color, very noticeable difference. The next day my wife called them to ask how much to paint the garage door so it matches. They told us $200 but they won't come out for less less $2500 or something like that. We tried appealing to our salesman letting him know this really isn't a new job, we want it to match like we told him initially. He told me he could come out some day to do it after work BUT he's really busy right now so it will be a while. Needless to say I didn't call him back, I won't use them again. You would think since that's what they do for a living they would help you select the color and tell you no matter how close you think it's going to be it won't match, for $200 we can paint the garage door while we are here. The next day they come to do the facia boards and right away they needed me to come home to go over a couple things. The lead installer started telling me this facia board and that board don't really need to be replaced just scrapped and painted so I said sure as long as I'm going to get a credit and it's going to look like the rest of them. He said of course he'll get with the salesman, he'll take care of it. Personally I think he said it because he didn't want to do the work and move on to the next job. So when I came back home I looked at it and I wasn't impressed, plus the wood under the gutters wasn't replaced. The salesman calls us and tells us he is coming by with another company that does that so they can see what needs to be done. He never showed up or called us so my wife called him. He gave us some story about the other company screwing him over, still didn't explain why he didn't call us and let us know. So my wife told him forget it we're not paying anymore money. By the time we were done with the down payments and the final billings and all the back and forth I'm not sure I received my credit and I thought it was easier to let them keep the money and never use them again. On their website they write "with a reputation for quality and care" and "our promise is excellence with a personal touch" . These are obviously just words to them, not practice. If I didn't already say it, I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!

Communication was on point!…read more I was super happy I didn't need to purchase any new materials - since my backing was pushing in he was able to reuse the existing tile without cracking either. My biggest fear was if mold was behind the tile - he was confident it wasn't. But of course I asked if it was and he did give me a price like I asked so I would be prepared. The work took 2 days due to drying time and he was able to work with my weird schedule as well. Definitely will use company in the future. Side note - the owner came each day to review the workers progress and the work; provided all the update information. Happy home improvement!!!

Clean my situation. They are very bad company, not professional, not carpenters. Do not know…read morecarpentry whatsoever. I would have been better off doing it myself, but I'm not a carpenter. But I would have done the same job. They did so I have to get another carpenter out here, and I've had a few carpenters that I talked to, who know this boy and he's a swindler, buys the cheapest material. He can buy says he pays his men $30. An hour when I told him that he forgot that he told me that lie not to be trusted. The countertop it was never fixed. It's not level at all. And instead of putting the clamps to hold the sink in place on the bottom of the sink, they decided they would do a real c***** c*** job around it. And it looks like c*** looks like I did it with my eyes. Closed.
