Amanda did a wonderful job designing my new kitchen and offered many suggestions for maximizing space. The installation crew was prompt and took great care with the installation assuring that all cabinets were perfectly level, and fit perfectly, all doors and drawers were individually checked for fit and function before they left. Working with Zaxx was an absolute struggle in both process and quality. I would tell a friend to look elsewhere for cabinets.

Problems from day 1. Zack came to our house for an estimate without confirming the appointment time, and so he arrived at an empty house calling me while I was at work, telling me that he was there. We "rescheduled." He came back for the estimate and showed up an hour late (though he did call first). We ended up scheduling a date for the cabinets to be installed. He informed me that we needed to pay half before the work started, and the rest after the job was done. He instructed me to call and pay with a credit card over the phone. A few days before the installation date, I called him to pay, but no answer. I left a message. I didn't hear back from him, so I emailed him to make sure he was still coming Friday. He responded, saying that I didn't make the down payment and that he would "try to squeeze me in," or he would have to come Monday. He also said that he didn't call me back because my message didn't specify that it was regarding payment. I took Friday off so I could be there when they were working, and I told him that Monday would be inconvenient. Why couldn't he just call me back? Why do I have to drop certain key words for it to be worth his while? We emailed back and forth a couple times. He ended, stating that "something seems wrong with this situation," and that he didn't want to do the work anymore because I was "scaring him." Zack is a joke. I can't possibly have been the only potential customer that he's left high and dry. No communication. A complete lack of professionalism. read more

I recently ordered Countryside Cabinets from Zaxx in Burnsville, MN. Upon delivery, I noticed that the quality of the cabinets were very poor so I notified the sales rep and was told that the Countryside rep would need to deal with the issues. It has been nearly a month and I have not heard anything. The boxes of the cabinets I received weren't even glued together and the response from Zaxx is that, "it's like that he [the Countryside rep] won't do anything about it since most of the quality issues are on the backs of the cabinets and once they are installed, you won't even see that." This is unacceptable. I understand that Zaxx is just a rep for Countryside, but they have taken absolutely no responsibility or accountability in this situation. Find another vendor to work with. read more

The cabinets we spent almost $14k have a very poor quality finish. In addition, we thought we were getting custom built cabinets, but all we got were pre-fab cabinets put together. We ordered white painted wood, but the paint (if it is paint) has a plasticky fake look and feel to it. Any touch leaves fingerprints, some of which will not come off. In addition, the white wood filler was smeared and not cleaned off properly from the crown moulding (see picture posted). When I complained the owner came out, was a total jerk and told me that it was minimal and that all white painted cabinets do that. Absolutely not true - we have white painted cabinets in our kitchen and white cabinets in our laundry room from Home Depot and they do not show fingerprints. His proposed solution for the crown moulding was to replace and not use wood filler when all that needed to be done was use the wood filler properly and clean it off right away. Installation was poor as well. Large gaps between the cabinets and the wall, large gaps between the granite countertops and the bookcases, gaps in the wine rack, etc. I have also found multiple spots where staples used to build the cabinets came through the sides. When I complained about installation they came back to rig fixes, but installation should be done properly the first time. I would absolutely not recommend this company - save yourself money and stress and just install IKEA cabinets yourself. Following up - months after the last bill was charged to my credit card I received a threatening voicemail telling me that I owed $200 and better pay it by the next day. In spite of claims that they had tried multiple times to contact me, I had not received any calls, voicemails or emails about this issue. read more

Wanting to keep business in our area we went to Zaxx Cabinets for an estimate for all new kitchen cabinets. We gave the owner a computer layout of our kitchen and the size and type we were looking for. That was before thanksgiving and was told he would get back to us within a week; it is just days till February and have heard nothing from him. Menards got the same info we gave Zaxx Cabinets and they put it together with in an hour. read more

I am disappointed with the quality control and customer service at Zaxx. I ordered from them at the recommendation of my contractor. He was also at my home when the cabinets were delivered, so when I got home after installation I was immediately puzzled by the number of issues. There were crooked drawers, an inside of a drawer where someone had drilled an errant hole and just left it, a place where the inside of a cabinet had two 2"x1" areas where white paint had mistakenly been sprayed inside the cabinets and a host of smaller issues like dents and splinters of wood. I had wrongly assumed that there would be some sort of quality control at the factory that would catch these sorts of issues before they reached my home. The installation was also a problem and I seriously regretted not being at home. When I asked my contractor about several exterior edges that were worn he explained that cabinets usually arrived from Zaxx with some sort of protective wrap around them, but mine had not. Also the installer did not use a ruler or any sort of restraint when installing the base cabinet under the sink around the outlet and plumbing. Consequently when opening the cabinet there was an extremely large, wavy, unnecessary hole at the back. There were other minor installation issues as well. To their credit when my contractor contacted Zaxx about these issues they were able to repair or at least conceal most of them. I planned to share my experience with Zaxx when they called for payment. That took some time because of lack of communication by my contractor, and when it happened today I have to say I was shocked by the reaction I got. I was told that if I wanted "perfection" I should have bought more expensive cabinets. Also when I suggested that a discount would be appropriate instead of politely declining he said, "What kind of money do you think I'm making on this?" I hadn't had any previous conversations directly about any of these issues, so I am puzzled by the hostility. Though in the end my kitchen is fine, I would not choose to work with Zaxx Cabinets again. read more
