I was really surprised at the poor service from this Zaxby's restaurant. We ordered two Cobb salads last night. They must have ran out of ingredients to make our salads. I will say when you hire young or inexperienced workers, you must have a manager that is dedicated to ensuring their productivity even during slow periods of business. To be completely honest I only go to the Zaxby's location out of convenience. It is the only Zaxby's in my path on my way home from work or school so I just put up with the bad service. I will be honest; I have had to contact the manger a few times when coming here due to the rude drive-thru workers and cashiers. "The customer is always right".... Not here. Most of the time, the customer is wrong. I shouldn't have to argue with a worker about getting a stupid ranch that I paid for. Not only is the customer service lacking in every way possible, but they seem to mess up my order almost every time that I come in here. CHECK YOUR FOOD PLEASE! Always check your food before you leave (If you decide to come here at all). You should at least get what you pay for. I will admit that the last time I came in here I surprisingly got good service and they hooked me up with some extra wings and fries. Yassss honey. I guess that's my reward for returning even after the bad service lol. However, even though the service was good that day I took a little detour to the bathroom to wash my hand and was struck by this STRONG smell of weed. Stay away!! They don't even deserve a single star. We've been sitting in the drive through for a HALF AN HOUR to pick up a mobile order because the restaurant won't answer their phone for curbside pickup after EIGHT CALLS and they keep their doors locked even though there are multiple signs saying pickup is available by curbside and inside in addition to drive through. TRUE STORY.... I worked as Associate Director of Project Management many years ago. On several occasions, I would visit Blockbuster Video (which indicates just how many years ago it's been.) The representative there was always nice, courteous, helpful, and professional. His customer service was exceptional every single time. I thought, "If this type of service were universal, how many successful businesses could one have?" I began to probe him with questions about IT; he had no experience. I asked about basic application skills, like Word and Excel; he had no knowledge as to how to even open them up. To say his basic computing skills were nominal would have been a complete falsehood BUT his service was indescribably exceptional. I decided to take a job-risking chance with this gentleman and hired him as a Project Manager. I schooled him in basic project management, commonly used Office applications, internal systems, and the often ambiguous nuances of Corporate America. Sometimes, I had to fight upper-level management to keep him. He was eager to learn, mannered, polite, and respectful. More importantly, he had potential and that potential was worth the fight. I left that company 10 years ago but he remained there for almost 10 years, was on the management staff, as well as pursuing his PMP certification through the Project Management Institute. Sometimes, all we need is opportunity for our potential. This post, however, is not about him. It is about the perpetual terrible customer service I receive when I go to Zaxby's, located at 451 S. Deshon Rd in Lithonia. I'm a very patient person and will give chance, after chance, after chance... multiple opportunities to "get it right" but these employees have pure and blatant disregard for customer service that is borderline professional. They are rude, curt, abrasive, get the orders wrong, and they place zero value on the fact that customers make it possible for them to take paychecks home. This applies to their management staff as well. They approach with the defensive garb on. Today, I politely cancelled my order and drove to another location, 30 minutes away, in a northern suburban area, and the service polar opposite of that I'd experienced countless times before. To make this endless story short (because I can rant about this topic for days), the moral of the story is somebody is always observing and their observations can change either change your life from 4 figures to 6 figures or leave you serving at the window. Came to this Zaxbys at 9:30 and sat in line for over 30 minutes to get to the window at 10:05 and be told that they are closed. I then told the young lady at the window that it say you close at 10:30. She looked me in my face and said no we close at 10pm. I ordered a Big Zax Meal via the drive-thru this evening (4/3/16) and as I drove off with my food, I noticed a strong smell of burnt cooking oil coming from the box containing my meal. I opened the box to discover that the fries wreaked of burnt cooking oil. It was overwhelming unpleasant, and I immediately returned to that Zaxby's to request a new batch of fries. Once inside, the older lady working the cash register pretty much ignored me, yelling to a woman working drive-thru, "you have a return!" The other woman came over to me and in an unconcerned manner said, "what's wrong with your order?" I explained to her that the fries smelled like they were cooked in burnt oil while holding up a fry. She had the people in the kitchen remake my meal. As I waited for them to remake my meal, a woman waiting for her meal stated that she could smell the burnt oil as I was standing next to her. That says a lot about just how strong the smell was. When the woman returned with the replacement order, I noticed that the fries were okay (definitely not freshly fried), but the freshly fried chicken now wreaked of burnt oil! This is not the first time that I have had this experience at this location. Tonight, I looked at other reviews of this location, and noticed that this is a recurring issue, as others on Yelp have made the same complaint. I will be notifying corporate of my experience since this is an issue that this location can not seem to resolve. Is it too much to ask that they do not serve patrons food cooked in burnt cooking oil? Needless to say, I will no longer patronize this establishment. read more
