You get the RUDEST service here, without a doubt. The librarians here don't have a clue what customer service is all about. I have found one other review that shares the same sentiment. I haven't been to this library much in the past decade or so. I came last summer for a book sale and bought a lot of books. I kind of regret it now. I had to carry back some books for a family member of mine. I needed to pay some fines and renew one of the books, but I didn't have a card, so the lady told me I would need to call and get the number from my family member. I took out my cellphone to get the number, right in front of her. The lady's attitude and tone changed and she told me firmly, "you have to make your call outside." I looked at her in confusion. How was I going to get the card number to you then? She said, call outside and get it. I was like, I have my mom on the phone and she can give you the number right now! No, she wanted my mom to call her on the library's line, like it made a big difference. So frustrated, I headed for the door, and that's when the fun started.
2 other librarians rushed me like I had a gun and yelled at me like I was a little child to go outside with my phone. I was heading for the door! I got so mad that I confronted them. I asked them why using my phone to help the clerk was such a big deal? I asked them why they needed to be so nasty about it? One of them got a security guard, pointed at me, then walked away. Very cowardly! I was totally humiliated. I told the guard that I hadn't been to the library in a decade or so, and that I would never be coming back, and that I hoped their funding gets taken away! I walked out with the book and called my mother. Then I came back inside, put the book down and said I don't want it anymore. I waved to the security guard and walked outside.
He came outside to chat with me a bit. He was the only reasonable person there. I told him straight up, that this was unacceptable. That is a customer service center up there, and in the 21st century, people need to use phones to conduct business! I was not chatting with my friends in the reading area. Why did they need to be so nasty?
It seems like there is a very big problem with Zauel now. I have no idea why the staff want to chase away patrons, when in the 21st century, the internet, tablets, Amazon and Barnes and Noble are practically making them endangered. Libraries are glorified cyber cafes now. I have tried complaining but have apparently gotten nowhere.
All I can say is, we have a governor that is very open to privatizing public services and shutting unnecessary ones down, and if any proposal comes about to do so, I will be voting against the libraries. Nobody needs them anymore, especially if their staff are going to be so rude to patrons and taxpayers that keep them employed! read more
