I interacted with about 5 shop assistants, all female, all in their early 20ies or younger and without fail they were condescending and even rude at times. An important detail might be that I am about their age, I have seen them being friendly with elderly customers so it might just be a lack of respect towards younger people.
None of them smiled at me once with the exception of one girl that, as soon as I entered the fitting room area, prompted me with the question how many items I had (without a 'good day' or a smile) and then only smiled and raised her eyebrows while I counted my items. Since there is no system in place of storing the already tried on clothes I carried a lot of clothes with me when I entered the fitting room a second time. Another girl looked at me and at my clothes and said "that's a little much, huh?" in the tone of someone who is talking to someone who clearly should have known better. I asked very politely and with a smile (a tactic that I used several times, trying to get a smile back, which never worked) whether there was a place to store the clothes I was going to buy and only take the ones I hadn't tried on, she responded "no, just take them with you." in a very annoyed manner.
The store is still very good in many other ways, but the service is terrible. I found myself not wanting to ask even when I had a question because I did not want to be looked down upon or treated like I was wasting the shop assistants time. read more
