France has Cassoulet. Brazil double dog dares with Fejoada (fay-zzzhwa-dah)…read more I asked the hotel receptionist where to go for Fejoada. She pointed me to Bolinha. It is the weekend and the ubiquitous Brazilian dish is their signature buffet. So everything came to the table! The 10 cuts of meat include bacon, pork chop, oxtail, pig ear, beef tongue, linguica, brisket, ham hock, and pork knuckles. The broth is brimming with collagen--so they offer salsa, hot sauce, and fresh orange slices to resuscitate your palette. Thicken the broth with toasted nut flour if you wish. There's fried sweet banana and yucca, pork rinds and crispy bacon on the side, perfect rice and shredded collard greens. Assuage your guilt with shots of house caipirinha. Think a sweeter margarita on the rocks... The very patient and sweet maitre'd offered me dessert. He's thinks he is so funny! While I have no reference to compare this example to others as it was my first taste of Fejoada, the standard is set immensely high. Not cheap at R150 total bill ($40). But this memory has been seared indelibly into my food coma'd brain. And now I understand why they have such a light dinner. Time for a siesta to recover. !!! Bring a translator (Google translate is pretty good) if you don't speak Portuguese. Inhouse WiFi available.

If you try to find Pitico on an extremely crowded night on the street they're on in Pinheiros, you…read morecould miss it like I did. Now, I did use Google Maps and when it told me I had arrived, I didn't see a sign or what looked to be an entrance to a bar front, so I kept walking thinking I would come across a giant illuminated sign. I went back and realized I was standing right in front of the entrance the entire time, lol.. noticed the tiny tiny tiny lit up sign high up (not eye-level from the street) and the staff / security maybe standing / sitting by the front of a black gate. You'll walk down a little hallway into the main area of the bar where there tons of picnic tables, beach chairs gathered around little side tables, one place to order drinks and food where you see the menu on the wall. The kitchen is on the opposite end where your food will be delivered to wherever you choose to sit as you'll receive a number. The bar in the back contains cocktail drinks. The noise level isn't extremely loud, but could be depending on where you are sitting. If you're trying to talk to someone to get to know them it might be difficult unless you are sitting fairly close to one another. Atmosphere is really chill. I came here at night and I liked this spot. It was clean, open (outdoors open air), and the people were chill. You can bring your dog. Large groups of friends will do well here. I had cerveja and some food that was really tasty! I would order the same thing again. It was the perfect snack. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head anymore. It came on two skewers and I think had pita or some type of bread on the side to use with a spread brought out on a wooden board. I don't remember what time it was, but I had thought they were closing kind of early for being a bar. No worries though as there are plenty of other bars to check out in the area if you don't feel like going home right away.

We were some of the first people there. We were a big group - 7 adults and 2 children. We ordered lots of things to share. I had some of the falafel, the eggplant, the french fries with zaataar.... I immediately ordered myself a falafel wrap and an additional order of fries to NOT share!! Get some extra tahini sauce to dip those fries into! The space is made up of a big yard and a couple different converted shipping containers. You order the food at the one in the middle, then it is prepared and served at one you passed when you first entered. Keep an eye on the number! If you want to order alcohol, you have to head to the one in the back. I ordered a mojito that was really strong. Not like a, "Oh, this drink is strong! I'm gonna have fun later!" It was more like a, "Oh... This drink is undrinkable." It's what I imagine medicine tasted like in 1804. Other than that, I really enjoyed the space and the food, and I would definitely return.

Don't expect authenticity on KS, but one thing you can expect is to get your taste buds a festival…read moreof flavours and textures, and ohh aromas. So, KS although has a Turkish name and Turkish on menu, it's actually owned by a Brazilian whom lived in Istambul and is Italian descent. What can you expect out of it? Pretty darn food. And all sandwiches are served on a lavish bread, which is bakes every time someone orders a sandwich! Falafel sandwich: perfectly layered lettuce, grilled eggplant, fresh and crunchy cabbage, house made tahini sauce, crunchy on the outside and juice inside falafel nuggets. I have eaten a lot of falafels, but this one is packed with more spices than usual, not traditional but very yum. Lamb kebab sandwich: perfectly charred juice, tender lamb kebob. Grilled veggies and perfectly assembled sandwich. Sfiha: one of the best in town IMHO and pretty affordable compared to most Esfiha shops around town. KS's sfiha is pretty awesome because it's made with beef, brushed with lamb's grease for aroma and taste, and it uses lavosh dough keeping it very light, crunchy, and not doughy. Plus for R$ 3.90, it's unbeatable! Pet peeves I have about dining in, is that wait service is partial; have to physically order at the cashier window, wait staff delivers to you but nothing can be ordered with the waiting staff. They have a fridge filled with Heineken beer and a few artisanal brews but expect to pay about R$ 23 per bottle. The cool part about it is that is BYOB friendly.
