It is one of the oldest ice cream drive ups that still exists. Motorcyclist, Amish, Moms Dads and kids all enjoy this lovely soft serve ice cream. We visited in October and it was so nice to see an ice cream place still open in the fall that was not Dairy Queen :) we got a strawberry cheesecake flurry and it was delicious. It was big enough for us to split and the price was fair. I also enjoy the beautiful spot to eat outside. Every town should have a cute, little ice cream shack. I was just sitting at the stoplight and I saw Yup's across the street. I knew I had to stop. And they had enough space for me to pull in with my little trailer. I wouldn't recommend pulling in with anything much bigger, but it fit me just fine. I walked up and received a friendly greeting. I got mint chocolate chip. It's really good. And the medium is huge. I am really glad I stopped here. read more

Meat seemed to be more steamed then fried but they were great, until several hours later and whatever seasonings they use kept re-visiting us even 7 hours later. If you are anywhere near Middlebury, you have simply got to go to Yup's for ice cream! I don't know how anybody could give this place a bad review. It is a local institution. They have both hard ice cream (Hudsonville, I believe) and frozen custard. I always go for the custard with chocolate or strawberry topping. A small serving is plenty for me. They are located at a busy intersection with a lot of truck and trailer traffic, so use care when you access or leave the parking lot, and the place is usually busy. I can't really comment on the food because I only go there for ice cream, but I will go out of my way for that. read more

I love chocolate malts from small local ice cream stands during the summer months. With that being said, unfortunately Yup's rendition of a chocolate was no better than a chocolate shake from McDonald's or the Wendy's frosty. Not only was the syrup not mixed in with the ice cream, it was not malty tasting at all, even though I had asked for extra malt. Very disappointing. read more

We visited for the first time and wished we had tried their ice cream sooner. We tried their soft serve in vanilla and chocolate, but haven't tried the custard or hand dipped ice cream yet. The ice cream is very good for similar style locations and priced fairly. They have 3-4 picnic tables and some shade for hotter days. We had all the choices for cones and cups or more traditional items like a banana split or dip cones. Parking can get a little dusty on hot days, so keep in mind if you have a clean auto. Otherwise it's a great option for a quick ice cream fix on a warm day. read more

Reviewing because I couldn't stand the thought of this place only having one star! This has been a Middlebury classic forever! Such a great summer staple of my childhood and always a necessity when I come back to visit. My favorite is their Topsy Turvy which is basically a sundae in a cup. My family and i came to yups, we got to the building before close, but as we waited in line they were shutting things down. As the line got shorter more people continued to show to get there ice cream, one of the employees was slamming doors and being very rude to customers. Even with the window closed you coukd still hear her vulgar language and cursing. Visibly upset to do her job as a food server. read more
