We wanted to explore Pine Island and came across their excellent Google reviews. As we were driving in, I began to worry that the hours listed on Google for their location were incorrect. But we went all the way to the end of the dark Marina tonight, and there it was! We ordered the Crabby fries, the Smashburger in the Pastrami Reuben. One of the reasons I think their food is so delicious is that they make many items in-house, such as the amazing queso that came with the fries (which might have been the best fries I've ever had- no exaggeration). They prepare the fries in a unique way that doesn't involve deep-frying them, unlike most places. They also smoke their pastrami, and the Pastrami Reuben sandwich was also delicious. We also both enjoyed the Smashburger. An upgrade to bun might be worthwhile, but it was damn tasty. We also had a lovely chat with one of the managers?, Matthew. He was super knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the restaurant. It was dark when we went, but I'm sure it's a beautiful view of the water and the marina during the day. We'll be back to try the wings and some other menu items. Visit them soon, you won't be disappointed!

Every box hits like it was made with purpose, attitude, and a little madness (the good kind). You don’t come here for plain or safe—you come here for flavor that smacks, combos that shouldn’t work but do, and characters that make you feel like you’re part of a story. Chef Julio and OG Micky? Legends. It’s like your favorite food truck and your favorite mixtape had a baby and decided to start cooking full-time. Every dish has a name, a mood, and a backstory. I ordered something called “Smoke in the Bayou” and swear I tasted drama, soul, and smoke in one bite. The boxes are LOADED—fried tenders over Cajun pasta, Cuban sandwiches stuffed like they’re trying to prove something, sauces that slap, sides that don’t feel like sides. And the vibe? Gritty, streetwise, and loud in the best way. The branding goes hard—black and lime green with street-art flair. It’s like stepping into a food comic book where everything explodes in flavor. You can tell there’s culture, passion, and hustle behind all of it. It's not about trends—it's about real-deal flavor and storytelling through food. If you’re hungry for something that feels different, tastes , and makes you want to come back just to see what’s next… Hans Hot Box is THAT spot.

Red Roc had parked out front on a slow Saturday afternoon, wafting in-taco-cating smells (get it??) all over the place. I'm still doing that pescetarian thing right now, and thankfully Red Roc cooks up a mighty fine shrimp taco. And they DON'T PUT CHEESE ON IT. Thank you! Seafood never needs cheese! Just MOAR cilantro please. All over my body. Jeff had the "chef taco" which looked like ground beef. We both had the hot salsa (which was flavorful and delicious, though not spicy to me). And the tacos come in soft corn tortillas, two on each taco. I didn't really get why they each needed two tortillas (twice the calories). But it did wonders for the texture. When I asked the chef, he confirmed that, yes, the tortillas are handmade everyday. These guys deserve a standing ovation for that alone. But wait, there's more. They have a "walking taco" riff on their menu--all the taco fixings (ground beef, I think) thrown into a crunched up bag of doritos, ready to be devoured via fork. Shut up and take my money!

We booked Señor Pepe's Paella Catering for my birthday and Señor Pepe came to our Airbnb and cooked up the most drool worthy seafood paella. He brought all of the necessary equipment to cook and serve us and got to making the paella on the backyard deck by the pool. Standard disposable plates, napkins and eating utensils were included in our booking. Señor Pepe took care of all set-up and take-down of his cooking/serving equipment. We added three Tapas to our paella booking - Spanish Cheese Plates of Aged Manchego, Tipsy Goat and Iberico cheese, Meat plates of Spicy Spanish Chorizo and Fruit Plates. These Tapas were great and gave all of us something to munch on while the paella was being prepared. The Spanish Chorizo was a standout and had an incredible spicy flavor to it that we couldn't get enough of. Watching Señor Pepe make the paella was too fun and really added to our overall experience. Señor Pepe was so sweet and professional and we all could feel his enthusiasm for cooking. He can trace his family history back to Galicia, Spain so cooking authentic paella is his pride & speciality! The paella took about 30 minutes to prepare. We had the Paella de Marisco (Seafood Paella) that is made with with Saffron infused seafood broth, bomba rice, shrimp, fish, sea scallops, mussels, clams, squid, green beans, carrots, onions, garlic, tomato sofrito (puree) and garnished with fire roasted red peppers, green peas, rosemary and lemon wedges. We also added 4oz lobster tails. It was soon time to dig into the gloriously lobster and seafood filled paella! The paella was a DELICIOUS feast and the shrimp, lobster tails, mussels and clams were oh so fresh and gave us a taste of the ocean. The shrimp and lobster were large & succulent. The rice was a beautiful golden color and perfectly flavored with saffron. The sprinkling of vegetables - specifically the crisp sweet peas - gave the paella a nice, subtle green legume snap in each bite. 10/10! AMAZING paella. Our Paella came with a tossed green salad topped with cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette dressing & dinner rolls. Both great sides to complement the paella. We will 100% book Señor Pepe's Paella Catering again in the future! Thank you for a fabulous dinner Señor Pepe!
