The winery's architecture and marketing are nothing short of brilliant--an impressive blend of art and nature, perfectly complementing the breathtaking landscape. However, despite the visual appeal, the wines and tour didn't quite live up to the standard set by the surroundings.
The vineyard's story and family history are both fun and exciting, but the wines themselves felt young and underdeveloped. The selections I tasted clearly need more time in the barrel, and even more time to mature in the bottle before they can reach their full potential.
As for the tour, it felt somewhat disjointed. The design of the tasting spaces didn't seem well thought out. At one point, we tasted two wines in the cellar, which in theory is fine, but the execution fell flat. The room was enormous--about 100 yards by 60 yards with a 40+ foot ceiling--and had a giant window flooding the space with light. The acoustics were terrible, and with multiple tables of guests drinking and chatting nearby, it became almost impossible to hear the guide's explanations.
Despite these issues, I remain optimistic about the future of this small, family-owned vineyard. Given time and experience, I believe they'll refine their process, and I look forward to tasting their wines again in 10 years, when those grapes have had time to reach their full potential. read more
