I didn't do anything huge bc I only had the place for half hour before the party started, but for what I did, my friends and family raved about it. I rented the back two thirds of the room. The middle section was where the fake fire place was at and where his gifts were being kept during the duration of the party. The back third was facing towards a cemetary. Like the other reviewer stated, it's not really creepy. It's actually really nice. The window was huge and I'm sure you could have put up some sort of curtains if you didn't want to see it, but I liked the fact that my guests were able to sit by the window. The only reason why they didn't get 5 stars...bc they lost my room setup sheet that I submitted when I made my final payment and when I did make my final payment, the person couldn't find my original contract. UGH!! Made me very nervous when I received a phone call the day before my event informing me that they didn't have my floor plan. I was kinda nervous they would cancel my event cause I thought they also didn't get my last payment. They need a better filing system. I think I might have gotten them some new clients! :-) Some of my friends liked it so much, they picked up the renting pamplet.

Kids in the after school program get homework help and have great fun. Adults find a place to get a GED or ESL tutoring at a very low cost and individuals struggling with addiction find the support they need. Every Saturday 50 seniors enjoy a free hot meal, music programs and companionship. Sports leagues fill the gym night after night and many neighbors find an affordable venue to host a party. The staff keeps the place looking great and are welcoming to all who enter. This is a place where the community comes together like no other venue in the area.

We wanted to love Beanstalk, but unfortunately our experience has been extremely frustrating,…read moreprimarily due to reliability and communication issues. Since our twins started about ten months ago, the center has had repeated closures due to building-related problems. In that time there have been closures related to water line issues, air conditioning failures, heating problems, and most recently a gas line issue. In 2026 alone, the center has already closed eight scheduled daycare days. For working parents, daycare isn't optional. When the center closes unexpectedly this often, it creates a huge disruption and forces families to scramble for childcare or take time off work. Communication has also been a major problem. Updates are often inconsistent or unclear, and different administrators sometimes provide conflicting information. In one case, parents were told the school would be closed for a field trip. Later that decision changed, but instead of sending a clear update to all families, some parents were contacted individually while others were not. Because we never received the update, I took PTO from work unnecessarily. To be clear, the teachers themselves are kind and caring, and we appreciate the work they do with the kids. Our frustration is with the management and the building-related issues that continue to disrupt families. When you're paying thousands of dollars per month for childcare, you expect consistent operations and clear communication. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience here.

We have been so incredibly happy with the school, the program and above all the teachers who care so greatly about the kids. We looked at many programs throughout the city, but YCCA was one of the most established, organized and experienced ones we found. My son started with their summer camp program part-time when he was 2 1/2, and while anything new is an adjustment, his teachers were so open to making him comfortable and acclimated that he was soon giving me a big kiss and running off to music circle time every morning. They switch to a new activity every 30 minutes, and I believe the stimulation and level of interest remains high. My son has thrived under the structure and stimulation of their curriculum and brings home crafts he is so proud of every single day. At the start of the Fall semester they began working on a new alphabet letter every week and I'm shocked and thrilled that these preschoolers are absorbing it so well. My son is identifying letters and sounds everywhere we go. The children are treated with respect and in turn taught to respect each other. Communication about your child with the staff is very easy and open. They work with you to help 'raise' your child with concern and love as much as any parent could wish for. The parental involvement is top notch, and the price is affordable and worth every penny for what you get.

On the very first day, they showed no consideration for me and took my daughter from my arms without any regard that it was her first time being separated from me. They didn't care that she was inconsolably crying, nor about the anxiety it caused me. At the time, I thought I might be overreacting since I am a first-time mom, but over time I realized this place is truly terrible. Although their policy claims to be "open-door," this was never the case. I was never allowed to enter the classrooms, not even during drop-off. They would take my daughter from me and close the door, making me feel like I was overprotective. The place smelled strongly of disinfectant, so much so that my daughter would come home smelling of it. My daughter never had diaper rash before, but at this daycare, she frequently came home so irritated that changing her diaper was very painful. This happened on many occasions. At that time, I was going through a very difficult period in my life and, out of necessity, could not change her daycare sooner. The worst part was when she began coming home with bruises and injuries. On one occasion, she arrived with a large bruise on her arm. When I contacted them, they insinuated that she had come in with the injury, even though it was clearly not there at drop-off. I demanded an incident report, and they refused. They even told me that if I didn't like the way they handled things, I could leave and take my daughter out. On another occasion, I was called to pick her up because she had been crying for 40 minutes. When I arrived, my daughter was naked, sweating profusely, and sitting in the reception area where anyone could see her. Another concerning issue is the cleanliness. Once, I arrived outside of usual hours, and the children were sleeping in the hallway on a dirty floor in deplorable conditions. To make matters worse, this place is not cheap at all, considering the lack of professionalism and empathy toward both children and parents. I could go on, but I will stop here. PLEASE, DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILDREN IN THIS DAYCARE. Be very careful. The staff is extremely unqualified.

Once a daycare in our neighborhood finally had a spot open up, we seriously considered just staying because of how much we've liked them. Staff clearly care about the babies and enjoy their work, and they send plenty of photo updates every day. Communication has been excellent. Our baby seems to get a good amount of tummy/floor time every day and goes on stroller walks when it's nice out. Highly recommend them.

Kai's has a nice play area outside, parking for strollers and very convenient hours. The center was always clean with lots of toys and the teachers really went above and beyond to create fun and interesting things for their kids to do. The bad: the ratios were off all the time. For my son it was supposed to be a max of four-to-one, but I often came in and saw five, six, or seven kids with just one teacher. Although everyone was always happily playing, so I tried not to worry. They have issues with organization. No one answers the phone. I would have to bug them for receipts and they would often take months to arrive. More problematic was that they never seemed to know what paperwork the state required. There was one instance where were given a 2 day notice about a piece of necessary paperwork they claimed the state surprised them with (apparently the papers we had been providing weren't enough, although we had given them everything they had asked for). However, our doctor required 10 days notice for paperwork so they could review everything before it went out. In the meantime, Kai's wouldn't let our perfectly healthy son come to school. We were sent home and still charged for the days they wouldn't let him in. Surprises like this are a huge problem when you're a family with two working parents. They also raised their rates by $15/per week which was a big increase to happen all at once (although they claimed they hadn't raised them in several years) and that put Kai's in the same price point as some of the nicer daycares in the area. They also don't provide any food for the students. My son was there for about a year until we moved to a different neighborhood. Had we stayed in South Philly, I still would have moved him somewhere else because the ratio issue really bugged me. TL;DR, Kai's takes good care of their kids, but could stand to be a little bit more organized and are a little overpriced compared to some of the nicer centers in the area.

The property is gated off which is wonderful for a daycare. The kids can play in the yard without running off, or hit by cars getting in/out of parents cars. The place looks to have been a 7-11 or similar. They have a entrance gate on the right side, south on ninth open during the day, locked at night. It's their other gate that is the bone of contention. It is currently non-functional. Chained closed, a finer metal gait or panel is secured across the length of the north 9th Street gate. 18 months living here and never seen it open, not once. It encloses the part of the playground area I believe. But since they want to have "24 hour access" to this mysterious non functioning gate they are allowed to have people towed, to the tune of $205 as soon as your car goes on that truck plus another &25/day storage after day one PLUS 20% tax on storage they have to pay the city. Yes, I checked with the police. This is legally their right they own the gate. They can be as douchey as they want to be. Yay neighbors.
