I am so impressed with Your Gym Salford http://yourgymuk.co.uk/ I felt moved to write a review. I was looking to return to the gym after 4 years or so, but in researching a place to go to I was put off by the grotty appearance of my most local gyms. I googled and found Your Gym at Salford City Reds and was so glad I did. It's just off J11 of the M60, so if you can get to the nearby Trafford Centre you can get there. I wasn't planning to return to gymming until September when my son is in full-time nursery, but saw an offer for a free one-day pass on their website, went for a visit and ended up paying a full year in advance; I was sold, couldn't wait to start.
The gym is fully equipped and - I would say - not so small - see the video here for an idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FunlFcMnvg&feature=autoplay&list=ULqqdww_0PGUI&playnext=1. All the cardio and fixed weight equipment is brand-spanking new TechnoGym kit (as they have at the Olympic Village) and as previous reviewer has said each station has clear instructions, so you can get going straight away. They also have free weights, pilates balls, medicine balls, kettle bells, and some other stuff that uses your body-weight, as well as stretching machines. They do classes such as spinning, and boot camp too, but I haven't looked into those yet.
It does get pretty busy in the evenings, but I have never had trouble getting on to the equipment. Weekends are a bit quieter in my experience. Your Gym caters for every type of gym goer and you see the beefcakes, slim young men, svelte women, mother and daughter combos, older men, the lot; it is very inclusive. It has a comfortable atmosphere, and the staff are absolutely lovely. I have met around 5 of them so far and they are all very friendly, put you at ease, extremely professional. They don't hang around on reception (there is none) but are active around and about the place. The door entry is extremely secure, so no worries there. The whole gym, including the toilets, is spotlessly clean and in great condition.
Parking is right outside and it is free to park. On match days, gym members use a free pass to gain access to parking. There is no sauna or pool, but Your Gym market themselves as a 'no frills' gym, and this is reflected in the excellent price. Monthly cost is £15.99 a month, but I paid the annual fee, which works out at less than £14 a month. For heavens sake, I was paying £36 a month back in 2004! I love this gym, but don't take my word on how good it is, go down and have a look yourself. read more
