The leisure centre has much to offer such as two swimming pools; one large one for adults and a smaller one for children and teaching swimming lessons. Also within the centre is a large sports hall for football fanatics for 5 a side football as well as badminton, basketball and many other activities. The fitness suite is brilliant. Its all brand new and up to date and has over 100 stations and its nice and cool to so you don't get too warm when your working them muscles! Outside they have a fantastic synthetic turf ground for 6 a side football which is popular with many people. Not only that but they have dance studios, squash courts, spas, saunas and a relaxation area!! It is amazing. If you are looking to get fit or just want to participate in salsa classes or boxercise, Copley Recreation Centre is an ideal place to start whilst not breaking the bank.

The gym facilities are excellent and there is a range of equipment and activities for everyone, including a full timetable of classes. We particularly enjoy the swimming facilities. There is a large indoor pool with clean well maintained changing rooms. There are steam rooms and whirlppol spas. The best bit for us is the outdoor swimming area. All safe and supervised with views of the canal. I can highly reccomend a visit to this gym and we have had a family membership for a long while which we have certainly had good value. The swimming area also consists of a viewers seating area, a slide, and a 'rapids' area. Swimming lessons are also available, as well as options such as 'ladies only' night. Waterworld also has a fully-equipped gym with changing rooms and showering facilities. The gym currently uses the TechnoGym products, and all are in great condition. The gym isn't huge, but caters for everybody, and all staff are helpful and friendly. There is also a studio where exercise classes take place. Classes are very varied, from yoga to dance, and all instructors are friendly and helpful. Something to suit all tastes. When not exercising, Waterworld also have a cafe just inside at the reception area. This is a great local facility, and if the changing rooms were a little more loved, updated, cleaner, and tidier, I would have no hesitation to give Waterworld 5 out of 5.

After a while we headed for the sports hall where the bout was taking place. The first thing that struck me about the sports centre is that it was very modern looking, clean, tidy and well maintained. The sports centre is also a massive place. From the foyer we had to walk upstairs and across to the other side of the sports centre to find our hall. Obviously we didn't go into the swimming pool today but it could be seen from the cafe and looked excellent. The only bad thing I noticed was that when I bought a drink from the vending machine it was not chilled and was a little on the warm side. Overall this was an excellent facility and I enjoyed my time here.

I've been going regularly for a month or so and the facilities are fantastic. Even at peak hour there's more than enough equipment not to disrupt your workout and members are extremely polite, respectful and focused. I have swimming and gym membership but have yet to try the swimming pools. There is one large one and a second smaller one for private and women only sessions. The studio space where various classes take place is sizeable, which is just as well because workshops are always full. The gym changing area is always in clean condition and is also very spacious. The library downstairs is also a genius idea and a perfect meeting/waiting place if you're hooking up with some friends after the gym. Whilst I walk here there is ample parking space behind the centre as well as numerous residential roads. My favourite part about Arcadia is that due to its locale, I can see myself making friends with some of the regulars in the coming weeks and finding a training partner. Whilst this isn't something I seek overtly because I'm fairly well motivated and don't see the need. My mind has changed gradually haven't witnessed first hand, benefits of having a gym partner. I can see that not only does it focus your efforts and push you a little further but it also makes the work out more fun (Obviously depending on your partner) As I'm missing out on the cricket season this summer due to a shoulder operation and consequent rehabilitation. There's enough space for them both to play away (leaving me with a paper & a coffee) without me feeling like they could get into trouble. Also they do crafty stuff & sporty games which is a unique touch, I've not seen this done at any other playbarn. The people are lovely too and very chatty & pleasant. Lifestyles Alsop is the newest leisure facility in the city which opened in 2007. The facility boasts a state-of-the-art fitness suite offering more to its members and the local community, 25 metre swimming pool, cricket nets and a large sports hall catering for many sporting activities. The centre also offers free access to all Liverpool students up to the age of 17 under the 'Futures' scheme playing a vital role in the community, bring local people together, and improving health and fitness to all ages. Although it is a compact place, I would definitely recommend a swim here, especially if you've got kids as they will love a splash. The centre has a welcoming feel to it and is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the more dated leisure centres within Merseyside.

It's really good no matter what age you are and if you want to admit it or not you do have a really good time! I went on a Saturday and it was full of kids and parties so I'd say if you are over 15 to probably go one evening when there's less children there. However even though it's really busy there is definately enough room for you to jump around! It's 100% one of the good things that have come to Bolton!
